Our campaign to stop demolition on our estate has been successful! It's a huge victory and relief. There was great solidarity on the estate. Thanks to all those who signed our petition - over 600 pple! Social housing needs to be refurbished not demolished. https://t.co/5MCdQ3tCRK
@robyn_tupper As our petition shows, demolition is costly, massively intrusive, bad for the environment and won't benefit residents or the community.
https://t.co/wBwzDxUp1s Without a viability assessment there's no guarantee abt the type of flats the new build may offer or who may live there.
No demolition on St Mary's Path Estate! Social housing needs to be refurbished and the family homes already on the estate made accessible. We need lifts, not bulldozers. https://t.co/oP1V17AKet
@robyn_tupper A report by the Independent Tenant Advisor shows 73.5% of responding tenants are opposed to demolition. Arguments surrounding demolition have already been addressed: https://t.co/YWEGKJJcpq We need to argue for a better refurbishment including lifts and residents other wishes.
Check out our No Demolition poster and help us reach + 500 signatures ahead of ISHA's meeting on 17/09. Residents are opposed to demolition and so is the community. Demolition means emissions - back the sustainable refurbishment of social housing: https://t.co/625nAyEsS5
Sign and share our petition against the demolition of a sound block on our estate by @ISHA_London. Nothing justifies the damage to the environment or the negative impact on the community. Back sustainable refurbishment of social housing not its demolition: https://t.co/wBwzDxUp1s
@Dean09581879 Thanks Dean. The petition highlights the fact that refurbishment can achieve better results without disruption to the community & damage to the environment. There's more info on the blog abt some of the issues linked to demolition of a block on our estate. https://t.co/YWEGKJJcpq
@ISHA_London@diarmaid_w @CllrGaryPoole No assessment of social, mental health, financial or environmental impacts produced to residents. Options not costed. Exact tenure of new build not given, etc. Oh and refusal to be bound by the residents preferred choice. 👉 Consultation unfair, not genuine and meaningless.
@ISHA_London made positive commitments to residents back in March but their proposal for our estate is wrong on so many counts. Reneged promise, unnecessary demolition, poor refurbishment, meaningless consultation etc. More info https://t.co/Cysrndgc4L @diarmaid_w @CllrGaryPoole
@ISHA_London@diarmaid_w @CllrGaryPoole Exhibition flat inaccessible to disabled residents and appointments to visit them not respected. Information on some display boards misleading. Request by TRA to extend consultation by just one week refused on account that residents collective discussions are of no value...
@diarmaid_w@ISHA_London @CllrGaryPoole A number of our questions and requests to @ISHA_London have not been answered. They also don't want to be bound by the residents preferred option so consultation could be a meaningless bock ticking exercise. We don't feel it offers the chance of a genuine resident involvement.
@diarmaid_w@ISHA_London We completely agree @diarmaid_w but the consultation is already very problematic. @ISHA_London only gave residents 5 days notice and we're being rushed into giving feedback in just a few days. We requested to extend the deadline by just one week but it was refused. @CllrGaryPoole
After 18 months of campaigning, @ISHA_LV's commitments to social rents & the right to remain are great news. We still need guarantees for assured shorthold tenants & to see what the plans will mean for us though. We want the best outcome for the community. https://t.co/QeDKCwDUt4
We welcome @ISHA_LV's commitments to keep all secure & assured tenants on the same rents & tenancies after any potential refurbishment / redevelopment. We hope they signal the start of a new approach by ISHA to working with and for residents. https://t.co/PNNlY3lMpz
According to @ISHA_LV projections, there will be a loss of homes on site. This will also most likely mean a loss of social housing on site. Why not carry out the maintenance and repair needed and keep the existing homes that families and social tenants need in @IslingtonBC?
