Happy Holidays to all our members and supporters. Life isn't always easy and neither is #breastfeeding but supporting you is our pleasure. One day you will look back on this time and won't believe it was over so quickly. Wishing you a peaceful festive period with lots of love.
Huge Congrats 2 our GP colleague @NaomiDow8 of @SaveTimeProtec1 now also qualified as a Lactation Consultant with IBCLC 🥳💪 She’s co-author of this great piece on breastfeeding beyond infancy @AssocBfMothers Any more GP IBCLCs or training to be out there? https://t.co/j2slsBRTOc
There are amazing 3rd sector organisations doing incredible work supporting breastfeeding but the NHS should be funding this support as human lactation is vital for optimal infant and maternal outcomes @AssocBfMothers@LLLGB@BfN_UK @BambisLiverpool @milkymedics@heartsmilkbank
Saw this in a textbook this week. Tell this to someone with a 20cm areola taking up most of the width of the breast & you’ll create a confused and unhappy situation. Talking about more of a mouthful below the nipple than above may be useful but not all anatomy is the same. Obvs.
Lactation advocates like me are not anti formula or those who use it whatever the media might have you believe 🙄. But this is predatory and inaccurate marketing which is misleading. Not ok (thread) @tommeetippee_UK @babymilkaction@Prof_AmyBrown @babyfriendly
If you want guilt free biscuits that "may" help lactation... Please don't spend £17.50 I promise you that a £1 pack of chocolate covered oat biscuits will do the job of keeping the hanger at bay during a midnight feed! Eat biscuits to enjoy them, not to break your bank balance!
We need to welcome and support #breastfeedingthroughout society, from cafés and shops to workplaces."Lack of support is one of the key reasons given for stopping breastfeeding” – UK Infant Feeding Survey 2010 https://t.co/pVmnNahYUF

Nice summary of the reassuring data on vaccination during breastfeeding in @Nature - vaccine components do not pass into milk, but antibodies that may offer protection to the infant do (in 100% of vaccinated women studied).
