The histories of our church 1150, canal 1794, railway 1838 and village hall 1928 (rebuilt 1997) were prominent in a wonderful celebration of Winchfield's heritage enjoyed by the community on Saturday. Thanks to all the organisers, esp Ed Fisher & Sarah Garwood
I was out and about today searching for the site for a new settlement in Hart when I came across this pile of rubbish. It's sad how people have so little respect for our countryside. It has been reported on fixmystreet
Today's RAF centenary flypast in London is set to see the most diverse range of aircraft since the Coronation Review at Odiham on July 15 1953 when the Queen travelled by train to Winchfield Station
David Corfield was remembered today in a fitting service in the beautiful church of St Mary at Winchfield that he loved and served so well. The overflow congregation were in a marquee shaded by the ancient yew trees, the churchyard setting surely the nearest to heaven on earth
Niel was the inspiration for my research for "Wisden on the Great War: The Lives of Cricket's Fallen" after I discovered his identity relating to an inscription by his father in a copy of the 1912 Wisden. See my article in the 2012 Almanack: "Wisden's Unknown Soldier" https://t.co/y7NenXUUPc

A lovely description: "My particular favourite sections are those between Fleet and the Greywell Tunnel. Heading from Winchfield Hurst…the air is filled with swallows and martins by day, their acrobatics a joy to behold as they chase the many insects which rise from the waters" https://t.co/YM3V9SKXNf
