@ChrisCalviFree@ponekeben We think it's completely inappropriate, and just another attempt by this developer to cut out the community. The Wellington Company is well known for putting greed before public interest.
@sarahfreenz@BenoitPette@TeriONeillNZ Hey Sarah, sorry to harp on this, but that's not really an answer. What do you thing about the development and the fast track process cutting the community out again?
@g_l_e_n_n_b@ScoopWellington@TeriONeillNZ Honestly hoping they can find the capability of debate, and the ability to listen to constituents rather than just rich developers.
@TeriONeillNZ Indeed, this is really unfortunate. Although our first response was to laugh (as above), the second thought was just how disappointing it is that a Councillor feels it's okay to block her own constituents.
@BenoitPette@ScoopWellington Unfortunately, many of her first appointments appear to be ones which specifically did not include opposing viewpoints (vital for democracy), and it looks like her first tie-breaking vote was for secrecy rather than transparency. Hope for better dwindling to single digits.
@ponekeben So, uh, as the Northern Ward Councillor, who one suspects doesn't live anywhere near Te Motu Kairangi, I guess that makes you a #YISEBY? (Yes In Someone Else's Back Yard)
@ButFactsEh@FleurFitzsimons Both issues are tragedy of the commons problems where private parties win out over the community. That @FleurFitzsimons ignored one, and not the other is the issue here we're pointing out ;-)
@ButFactsEh@FleurFitzsimons Ah! we understand the confusion. In one case, @FleurFitzsimons voted to sell WCC land and property (and hand a developer $10 million in ratepayer funds), and in this case, she seems against the same principle. Maybe the difference is there isn't a developer to give money to..?
@TeriONeillNZ @NZLivingStreets @connectwgtn So how about that $10M you gave to Ian Cassels last year? Don't suppose we can get that back? One suspects you can repair a lot of footpaths with that number.
Apparently the fine folks occupying Shelly Bay are "being a nuisance" according to Ian Cassels - golly, I'll bet they are. Thank goodness for that. https://t.co/mwmcAsT23G
@digi_am@justin_lester hrm... who's to say that we wouldn't get fired too? There's a reason for protecting anonymity in political speech. And it's a GOOD one (but like all tools can be used for evil.) Hear the arguments not the Anonymity.
