It was rainy and cold today in Gaza. Last time a cold front moved through, at least 6 babies died of hypothermia in the North, demonstrating the extreme dire conditions many families are living in, exposed to the harsh weather and elements.

We prepared for the freezing temperatures by initiating an emergency campaign to provide warm baby clothes and an educational workshop conducted by one of our nurses explaining to young mothers techniques to keep their babies insulated and healthy.

The team visited Jabalia Camp where they passed out care packages with a thick and soft baby onesie, a hat and socks, a pack of diapers, a can of formula, along with an educational brochure prepared in consultations with Doctor @azalazal23. We distributed 52 baby onesies in these packages, and the additional diapers and formula were given out to mothers and babies in need in the area. Each onesie cost $16 from the market, but we recently placed an order for 100 from a local manufacture at cheaper prices to do another round of this important campaign.

One of the most marginalized communities in Gaza right now are people with disabilities. Unfortunately their conditions remain terrible with no sufficient support.

Ruba is 16 years old and has a mental disability and her sister Mariam is 8 years old and suffers from brain atrophy. Mariam sits in a barrel all day so that she doesn’t run away. And Ruba as you can see bites on to her blanket.

Their tent leaks and allows the wind in keeping the girls and their family cold. And they don’t have many of their basic needs.

🙏My friends, I wanted to tell you about the state of shock that everyone is in since the borders have closed and aid was halted into 🇵🇸#Gaza. Prices have risen a lot, and some things are becoming unavailable already. It’s Ramadan, so everyone tries to be cheerful, but it is hard not to be scared about what will happen next. I also wanted to talk about the 🐾#cats, and the state of shock they have lived in since the beginning of the war. Now the violence has ended, they are doing their best to survive, scavenging in the streets for food and I worry about the effect the war had on them. It is my dream to be able to feed them all and give them the love and care they deserve. Will you support us through these scary and urgent times, my friends? I am very grateful to you all..🫂
