FORGET SHAME, THE REAL ISSUE IS THE THREAT TO OUR JUSTICE SYSTEM AND IT’S FRIGHTENING

On June 18, 2026, The People’s Forum wrote a letter to the Chief Justice of the Republic of Ghana. Raising concerns about his public conduct and the romance between him and the executive and the threats it brings to all citizens.

Since then, it’s gotten worst and the situation continues to deteriorate, never in our country’s history, not even under military regimes, have we ever experienced such blatant disregard for the sanctity, dignity and integrity of our judiciary.

We raised this about 3 months ago, we saw this long before others started seeing and now, everyone is at risk.

A critical paragraph in our letter reads

“It is in this context that I put the question to you directly, Your Lordship: if those who are displeased by this letter, including NDC government officials who may feel stung by its contents, were to bring pressure to bear upon the courts, would the proximity you have cultivated with members of this government grant them any measure of privileged access to the judiciary? Would the relationships you have built at private social functions, in government delegations, at funerals and celebrations, become channels through which a citizen who has written an open letter can be quietly made to suffer? Or will you, as you are constitutionally and morally obligated to do, raise the sacred shield of the law over every citizen, including those whose voices are inconvenient to those in power?”

If you are a citizen, be it NDC, NPP or apolitical, and you are not worried with a chief Justice that public says, he has to do “everything” for the head of the executive, then all I will say is, Let’s give time some time.

Lawyers for Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, have responded to claims by Sammy Adu Gyamfi's legal team that the plaintiff in the defamation suit against Sammy Gyamfi is avoiding service of the writ.

They describe the claim as not only false but also legally elementary and incomprehensible.

All business managers report accounting losses and are been questioned, asked to explain the cause(s) and if not convincing enough, they are demoted or sacked. Accounting losses are financial losses with opportunity costs. I believed nobody has said the loss is a theft or stealing. Accounting losses can result from consequential decisions or programmed agenda to enrich another. The more reasons Ghanaians should know the causes of it. Note, a loss in the books of A may cause the profit in B. Who were the beneficiaries? Ghanaians ought to know! Imagine BOG and GoldBod were to be a private enterprise🤔 Our SOEs must be accountable to the state and not to only their appointees ! Our institutions must also be seen as a body corporate and not personalized like way some people see GldBod as synonymous to their personality 🥶

🚨 Open Letter to Hon. Osahen Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader of Parliament and Member of Parliament for Effutu

Dear @AfenyoMarkin ,

You have a name to protect. A name that took years to build. A name @SammyGyamfi_ deliberately spat on in public and then dared you to defend.

You answered that dare, the only honorable way a man of your standing should, by walking into the High Court and filing the writ. That act was not weakness. It was courage. It was the first clean step towards washing the field of the “Extortionist” off your reputation.

Do not reverse it. If you withdraw this case, for mediation, for peace, for party pressure, for any approach by any person, you will not buy peace. You will buy permanent suspicion. The tag will stick. Every critic, every enemy, every opportunist will point and say: “He ran. He knew the truth would come out.” and they will be right in the eyes of the public, even if they are wrong in fact. Reputation does not recover from retreat.

Sammy Gyamfi has made a career of throwing this reckless, career damaging insults. This is not just your case. This is the moment to make an example of him. Let the court examine his evidence. Let him stand in the open and prove what he claimed, or be exposed as a man who weaponizes falsehood. Anything short of that teaches the wrong lesson, that powerful people in government can call others criminals, and then negotiate their way out when the law comes knocking.

We who have defended you on social media, who have pushed back against the smear, who has stood ready to fight for your integrity, are watching closely. If you discontinue this suit, we will be bitterly disappointed. We will not be able to defend you on this matter again with a clear conscience. We cannot stand in public and claim you are fighting For your name while you yourself walk away from the only form that can officially clear it.

Honour demands that you stay the course. Your name demands that you stay the course. The principle that words have consequences demands that you stay the course.

Do not withdraw. Do not medicate away your dignity.

Let the legal process run. Let the truth be tested in court. That is the only part left that preserves both your honor, and the respect of those who still believe in you.

We are waiting to see the man who filed the writ, not the man who withdraws it
