βοΈWith todays investment, net worth has crossed over half a million GBP. πΈ Half way there!
6 years ago, started with a negative net worth
4 years ago, hit 100k
2 years ago, hit my lean FI target of 300k
Here we come 1 million.
@thewealthster I saw this one!
The area's we like are all around the Cairngorms. We wouldn't move for at least another year or two though.
We'd be after 1 acre+ and in an area with tree's. Seems some places are a bit sparse.
@thewealthster The Quest headset is pretty cool, they bought VR to the mainstream.
They also maintain and popularized React, the biggest multiplatform programming language for mobile, lots of other apps (Like Chase, Monzo, Trainline) use it.
And they open sourced Llama LLMs, was meaningful :D
Is it better to buy an ETF denominated in GBP and pay the 0.5% stamp duty or buy the USD ETF and pay the 0.02% IBKR FX fee? (I'm looking at VUAG.)
I'm leaning toward the USD ETF to not pay stamp duty, what am I missing?

@Dad_on_FIRE Apparently so! We're moving to rural Northumberland, we've been told they had a multi week outage in a recent winter and the army had to come and help - hopefully we wouldn't have one that long again or we'd be screwed either way π
@Dad_on_FIRE I'd want to run a Gen 3 Starlink, router, a laptop and phones... Then probably an electric blanket at night to keep us warm in a multi-day outage.
@Dad_on_FIRE Yeah, but I'm not sure whether a generator would be better as our new place has propane tanks for the hob, so could hook into them - worried about getting the solar panels through a window and also not getting enough sun. The generators seem pricey though.
I've now got Β£45k stoozed on credit cards, all within 6 months!!
Will help pay off the mortgage while we sell to avoid the 7.8% rate.
Halifax Clarity 0% money transfer card was what allowed me to withdraw this amount of cash this quickly.
This amount stoozed will save Β£300 p/m
