My people, I’ve been following what happened at that checkpoint with Hussein Khalid etc and ATPU. I know many are angry and attacking them.

Now, hear me out, some of you might not agree.

It might look wrong for Khalid etc to ask police to remove balaclavas. But the bigger question is: should police at public checkpoints wear them at all?

Yes, ATPU officers need balaclavas for dangerous operations. But what about the safety of people like us?

Last year, people in balaclavas abducted Kenyans and police later said those weren’t officers.

Imagine if one day, bad guys set up a checkpoint wearing balaclavas. How would anyone know who’s real?

The law is clear: under the Police Act, officers have powers to stop and search, but those powers must be exercised transparently and responsibly. Public checkpoints are meant to protect citizens, not scare them or create confusion.

We need normal uniformed officers at checkpoints. They protect us, and keep things transparent.

So yes, Khalid may have acted wrong, but the focus should be on rules, not just people.

Because if we defend the system & status quo blindly today, it could be used against us tomorrow.
