Exactly! Many grievous errors stem from how one understands justification and sanctification: the reformed distinguish the two, not separating them and not collapsing them.

John Murray has an excellent treatment on the subject from Romans 6 in several of his writings, his commentary on Romans, his books Principles of Conduct: Aspects of Biblical Ethics, and Redemption Accomplished & Redemption Applied.

Being a peacemaker as a Christian means maintaining peace and a peaceable heart in accordance with truth and godliness.

Therefore, it involves combating ungodliness in a righteous manner, remaining steadfast to the truth of God’s word by encouraging or rebuking the wayward.

However, remaining silent and allowing blatant errors in practice, doctrine, or heresy to spread is not peacemaking; it’s false peace, and an act of cowardice driven by expediency.

These are people who say, “Peace, peace” when there is no peace. They’re conformed to the world, and they often use the excuse, “Saying something will disturb the peace or upset the one causing discord.”

Glory, shame, and created order clearly and what that actually means, show what is and is not to be on display in the worship of the saints. That’s the framework to interpret the text…and yes, because of the angels.

Trash the noise other people use to obfuscate the clear meaning of the text, bewildering many saints and leading many households astray. I was once there, no longer, thank God, but humbled myself before God and His word, and it’s crystal clear.

Women are to cover, at the very least, in the corporate gathering…start there.

Low and slow, 225-250°, 250 at the most. if you’re using an offset, do not put the brisket on until the smoke is nearly clean/clear, not brown looking like smog or the meat will taste bitter.

Look out for the inevitable stall (usually around 160-170 internal), don’t crank up the heat if the internal temp won’t rise, remove it, wrap it in butcher paper rather than foil. If you really want some deliciousness, get some Wagyu beef tallow (Academy has it) and slap it on the brisket then wrap it before putting back on the pit, remove it around 203° internal temp…let it rest before serving. Enjoy!

Redemption does not mean deracination, plain and simple. We ought not be a cosmopolitan mush; we all know this by nature, as well as good and necessary consequences. Mid-wits can also and should be deported or repent…that’s always an option.

Case in point: South Africans can repent for savagery against the Dutch and others who civilized it and brought the gospel and a once ordered society.

Get married, start a family, exercise self-control and sanctify God’s good creation by using it unto holy ends and to God’s glory.

“But the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and doctrines of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of liars seared in their own conscience as with a branding iron, men who forbid marriage and advocate abstaining from foods which God has created to be gratefully shared in by those who believe and know the truth. For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer.” 1 Timothy 4:1-5

Paul’s warning remains true and obviously relevant today. False teachers often manifest in two contrasting forms; one encourages licentiousness and the indulgence of sinful desires, while the other promotes a counterfeit holiness that despises God’s created order.

Scripture rejects both of these errors, and so should we. The righteous path lies neither in ascetic rejection nor in sinful excess, but in thankful stewardship.

“Whether, then, you eat or drink or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” 1 Corinthians 10:31

Christians do not flee from God’s gifts as though they are evil, nor do we worship them as though they are our ultimate hope. Instead, we receive them with gratitude, govern them with wisdom, and employ them for holy purposes, all to the glory of God who has given them.

Therefore, reject the false asceticism that masquerades as spirituality while actually undermining God’s good creation and instead embrace what God has instituted and declared good.

You’re too emotional for this post. Thirdwayism grapples with the challenge of striking a balance between being too extreme and not extreme enough in their third way. Naturally, this leads to a perplexing question: can something good be considered idolatry? I suppose it could be, but is that truly the dilemma that married couples face?
