At the moment, ISSP has set its eyes on Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara. Kebbi and Sokoto are already in the kitty. Next is Zamfara. I don’t think the group will be in Kebbi without being tempted to expand to Niger. If that happens, Kwara and the Southwest should be worried.
This will of course depend on how the inevitable confrontations with Lakurawa on one hand and JNIM on the other turn out. Most importantly, it also depends on the government’s response.
This is a great time for Northern governors to put on their thinking caps, if they have any.
It is also a good time for the Southwest to put measures in place to forestall any potential infiltrations, despite JNIM and JAS being next door. Southwest leaders can make the region inhabitable for any group.
