NetApp #StorageGRID 12.1 improves existing bucket snapshots, #S3 read-only cache features and introduces new ones 💪. I recently built a basic SG #COSI driver for 12.0 and have some other things cooking for 12.1...🫡

#OpenSharing looks extremely promising. I've been playing with an OpenSharing API implementation fronting @VersitySoftware 's VGW in front of E-Series - OS/VGW turn E-Series into a zero-copy tables-sharing (I have OpenSharing Tables implemented for now) platform. Very cool stuff!
Flash capacity may be 22x pricier than NL-SAS, but as long as it's much cheaper than HBM capacity, it will keep growing faster than enterprise users cut demand by partially switching to hybrid/HDDs. Demand for KV cache is surging and HDDs can't touch that segment.
The guys from Vdura and Nimbus predicting doom & gloom for Pure are wrong. Flash prices are high because of growing demand. Pure will grow revenue and its *flash* storage market share during this time and (like Weka), have tiering solutions with NL-SAS-focused S3 providers.

>G3.5 tier is a JBOF and, although it has SSDs with persistent storage, is used to hold ephemeral data; it’s a cache. Nvidia describes the G4 tier as durable, But not the G3.5 tier.
That's right, I've been drawing it on RAID 0 since Jan '26.
@4voken Re wiping: you could do that by booting the nodes with the SolidFire using RTFI (ATA Secure Erase), or using a Linux ISO to wipe disks, or attaching disks to a Linux workstation and doing it there. See https://t.co/P6QDN1WIHI
The joy that never goes away: #SolidFire API 😍
I updated cluster/volume replication report function) in "Longhorny" utility to watch the newly added #Terraform Provider for SolidFire clusterPairing and volumePairing at work.
@4voken Not directly, as SolidFire Demo VM is packaged as OVA - you'd have to "proxy" those disks with a free or non-free ESXi.
The main problem is the Demo VM is capacity- and performance-constrained (https://t.co/HuTJeIFIeJ) so you wouldn't be able to use the capacity you have.
For a while, there were none. Now there are two.
E-Series #SANtricity CSI driver: https://t.co/e4so67B0LT
IBM Block CSI (patched for SANtricity): https://t.co/fqEPnvLI25
weak-link-ssh lets you SSH into legacy SSH servers.
I've just added a tweak that weakens the security even further. If that's still not weak enough, submit a feature enhancement request.

@heynmodi@dweekly Is that "gatekeeping", though? Clearly they have no way to stop you (or even slow you down) and you don't have to tell anyone your Web apps are vibe-coded and become a "target", but maybe you have a different definition :-)
Dell VP: "Flash drives wear out with use. Reintroducing aging media increases the likelihood of accelerated component failure..."
No, they lose a <5%/y. The issue (with Vast's Flash Reclaim) is if they break, you probably can't have them replaced. So what
https://t.co/hcVKLM8YHu
@heynmodi@dweekly Of course you would say that.
"Gatekeepers"?
What's stopping you from un-gating access to your vibe-coded apps by posting them to Github or Gitlab?
Posted 2 lightweight clients for Day 1+ #NetApp#ESeries#SANtricity (same API requests, different languages). This is nothing new, but if you already build stacks with E-Series and want to use a permissive client library... #WIP👨🏭

Thank you to #IBM for creating a nice Open Source #CSI block driver. After plenty of stumbling, I managed to provision a volume on #SolidFire with it. Very nice! #Kubernetes
