Largest study ever performed assessing the mortality association with increasing LV mass from the National Echo Database of Australia, presented @escardio#ESCCongress. New mortality threshold at 88g/m2 for men and 82g/m2 for women. @thecsanz@ASE360@EchoIQ_AI@ISHBP@EchofirstB
Here it is! The results of the progrnosis of all forms of MR presented this afternoon at #ESC2023#ESCCongress. 608,570 individuals NEDA, showing that mild, moderate and severe MR all associated with increased mortality. Association independent of age, sex and LV disease. @ASE360
Distinction between pre- & post-capillary pulmonary hypertension is important for guiding therapy. Here are some echo clues to help distinguish between these levels of PH.

Congratulations to my old fellow @ScaliaGreg and Brisbane colleagues for devising the ePLAR index, now shown to predict mortality in COVID pts. A quick way to distinguish pre- from post-capillary PH! @HFpEF@NMCardioVasc@JaeKOh2@ASE360#EchoFirst
Echo in COVID-19:
🔥Hot off the press.... ePLAR (TRVmax divided by mitral E:e' septal) reported as a powerful prognostic tool in COVID-19 patients - especially when PASP is elevated.

@BonitaEcho@asa Congratulations Bonita,
This award speaks to the depth, breadth and reach of your contribution to our discipline of Echocardiography. Very few people, have given so much teaching, wisdom and skill to us all.
It has been an honour to work beside you for these 25 years.
PhD submitted today. Lots of hard work and sacrifice but lots of reward along the way with 5 publications awarded and one under review. To the future but many thanks to my principal supervisor Professor Jonathan Chan for his guidance and advice along the way.
Presented my PhD thesis on Friday prior to formal submission in the next 6 weeks. Supervisors and examiner were happy and now the final formatting to be done. 6 research chapters, 5 published and one close to submission.
Estimating PASP from #EchoFirst TR jet? Measure the chin (modal velocity) and not the beard. Superb talk by Francois Haddad full of pearls for imaging pulmonary hypertension. #ASE2021. @ASE360
