@Dan4Barnet You have been in office for 3 months, yet there is no new tube being constructed in one of the biggest city in the world. We have to see it to believe it.
Yet another scandal.
It’s not just leaseholders, it affects tenants too.
Individual queries are addressed after much persistence but the system is broken.
Resignations should follow. We’re not holding our breath though…
#Southwark Council will publish itemised #servicecharge breakdowns to give leaseholders ‘more transparency’
Currently #leaseholders have to request that information which can take at least 28 days

Is it just me or is this not the abolition of leasehold at all? All very well for new flats from now on, but that’s a tiny proportion of homes. What about the millions of existing leasehold properties? Govt admits there will still be “residual” leasehold. https://t.co/8H8xY97mlh
I now pay @lbbdcouncil £11,000 per year.
Broken down monthly.
Council tax: £186
Service charge: £550
B&D energy (council company) £220
My mortgage is only £896, meaning the council costs me more than my home, every month.
Tell me again the affordable housing program is working @BeFirstLondon
Southwark 'affordable housing'! Annual services charges doubled to £8000 a year and 'poor doors'!
Affordable housing folks also paying for facilities used by better-off private residents!
Make it make sense!

It would be really great if a journalist could go in hard on District Heat networks not being subject to the energy cap, regulated by OFGEM or even by the energy ombudsman. Coz, lads, this is insane.
My energy and heating bill now exceeds £200 per month.
It’s a well insulted 2 bed flat, 5 years old, but my bill is around 100% higher than the average 2 bed flat in the UK.
This is because I have no consumer choice, compelled to use a district heat network for heating my home.
District heat networks must be brought under the OFGEM price cap, or be banned.
Time and time again, we are utterly appalled by the cruelty of @lb_southwark. They don’t even pretend to care about the lives and livelihoods of the residents who pay their salaries. The case for negotiation is becoming increasingly weak, while active lawsuits grow stronger.
Property Managing Agent hidden commission, over £1.6m, was not for services rendered. This is the tip of the iceberg because these firms, even members of #RICS, habitually rip off those paying for the cover. https://t.co/wwRcT34wa0
It’s over 1,000km from Berlin to Paris
There’s now a direct daytime train between them, that takes 8 hours and costs just €59. Leave at 10am, arrive 6pm.
And… it’s just 1% the carbon emissions of the equivalent flight

Mdest proposal: All Luigi fans and stans should band together and create or purchase their own health insurance provider.
If the problem is really United Healthcare, they can save countless lives. If the 2% profit UH makes is really so obscene, surely all Americans will be thrilled to switch to a new more-efficient provider that doesn't deny any claims! I haven't figured out how that will work given that the the ACA/Obamacare specifically prohibits charging enough to make such a thing possible, but that is just a minor detail. It isn't like the supply side could be the problem, and certainly not government regulation and crony credentialism.
No, surely a new CEO can solve our health insurance woes and make a better product that everyone prefers by acting as a conduit for the brilliant ideas of murderous social media commenters.
Out of all of the blocks I have reported on as a journalist, the experiences of leaseholders at Mar House have to be up there as the worst.
Here's my investigation of the residents whose homeowning dream, soon turned into a leasehold nightmare https://t.co/KesdaeIqyF
