Trying to be light. Proud dad, grateful human. Practicing movement and stillness. Consistency heals. Be kind…Especially to yourself. #PracticingPresence
So #Grateful for this dance, the self compassion when my inner critic says “what took you so long”, the slow & steady self trust being accumulated, the authentic me gaining strength, the wisdom to see the dance moves that no longer serve, and the difference in me to show up.❤️
@theiaincameron First of all, that tree looks painful to sit on like that…ouch! Second, this is a great follow up to that dang moving island! Love your posts, Iain.
@AimTrue7 I’d like to nominate curiosity to join compassion and kindness if I may. Not like ‘what the heck is happening’…that’s not compassionate curiosity. How about the ‘what do you need?’ or ‘is there anything I can do to support you?’ kind of curiosity.
@AimTrue7 As I began my journey I had thoughts that maybe I was a sociopath for this very reason. I was convinced I felt nothing only learning appropriate responses to others expression of feelings
But they were there, just buried so deep only a loving internal archeological dig would help
Perfect conditions rarely arrive.
The first step may feel small, but action has a way of creating clarity that waiting never will. Every meaningful journey begins with the decision to move.
Progress belongs to those who are willing to begin.
It’s been a long time since my last post, but this seems fitting.
I think nothing describes my inner child better today than this. I’m so grateful for this journey of building trust between us. Slow and steady.
@AimTrue7 The biggest heartbreak is how we internalize the narrative and adjust ourselves even further from our authentic self. Self trust is obliterated. Eventually we don’t even recognize that true self. It’s such a long way back.
@AimTrue7 I found myself describing myself as “easy going” (‘oh, whatever you want to do’…) because not only had I lost complete touch with my own wants and needs, but I didn’t trust that what I wanted or needed as having any value to myself or anyone else.
@Persistence982 We intellectualize and yearn for that just right answer around the corner because it is easier than feeling the hurt and the pain when we become still. All healing starts when we learn to become comfortable being uncomfortable and sitting in stillness with our feelings.
@Persistence982 Your poetry is beautiful. I hope you found healing in its expression. Stillness is the point with which we reconnect with our true selves. Raised in dysfunction, we run from that true self, because we were told over and over again it had no value, and today it frightens us.
@Persistence982 Ive not posted here in a long time and this drew me in & resonates. I can read a room or a person in seconds & I’m almost always right. It was survival when I was young, became dysfunction when I became an adult, but today I chose it as a gift that allows me to check in with me
@RyanDLeaf I do not post or reply much, but I truly appreciate your story, your growth and your walk in integrity today. Thanks for walking the talk, Ryan.
Let me be clear: Hamas does not represent Islam; Hamas does not represent the Palestinian people nor their aspirations; Hamas does not represent humanity. Hamas’ terrorist attacks against Israel and the gruesome massacre and kidnapping of civilians must be unequivocally condemned.
Israel has a right to defend its people against Hamas’ brutality. Democracies are strongest when they lead with their values – during times of peace and times of war. As Israel responds to Hamas’ terror attacks, upholding the law of war and protecting civilians is paramount.
The diplomatic community must immediately work together to provide protection, medical care, and humanitarian assistance to civilians in Gaza, including the creation of humanitarian corridors. Civilians must be able to move out of harm's way.
