Spear Thistle and Common Ragwort are native plants that provide valuable resources for wildlife.
Yes they can cause problems in specific contexts. Thistles can become tough weeds in crop fields and ragwort can be toxic to farmed animals, especially if it is dried and eaten in hay (though I’ve seen plenty of examples of it growing in pastures where the grazing animals just avoid it).
As far as I can see, it is not illegal to have either plant in your garden, despite what the article says.
If you do have them they’re certainly providing benefits for wildlife. The only issue that might arise is if you live next to agricultural land that is having problems with these plants and your garden stock is continually spreading back into the fields.
This is not a problem for the majority of people, and it doesn’t mean these plants are inherently dangerous or bad. The unfortunate consequence of these kind of articles are that people start ripping out these plants wherever they find them.
Near me, people pulled up ragwort growing harmlessly on a public verge because they thought they were doing a public good. Those plants had been providing food for caterpillars, butterflies, bees, and other insects. Removing them just meant there was less food for wildlife, and less beauty and colour around.
These are native plants that wildlife depends on. A better article would have this nuance and would share details about the real benefits provided by them in the right contexts.
Hard to see but Lucy has left her tunnel web. She's out hunting if s she's a female. If she's male, he's out looking for a mate. They are usually out 3 to 5 days and then return. One time I woke up, turned on the light, and they were cruising across the way at eyelevel.
This is my roommate. I think she's a she. If she is, she could live up to 7 years indoors If she ends up to be a male, even indoors his lifespan is only a year. They build funnel webs. In the 2nd picture is her exoskeleton. A few days later she threw it out of her web . Meet Lucy

Erling Haaland says he’s been so happy seeing all the new memes of himself on the internet, including the one where he scares himself in a mirror while eating 😭
“I open my phone and I keep getting new memes, it’s too funny”
The officer explains that his cruiser is equipped with same‑lane movement radar, a system that can track your speed whether you’re driving toward him or away from him. He then decided a warning is enough.
Why aren't more cops like this?
We don't talk about the codependency we place on someone when we wait for them to love us, or how extremely unhealthy it is to even wait at all. We've all loved someone who didn't love us back. We've all placed our hearts all in, giving the best intentions and ended up with different expectations. We've all believed the love we felt was honest so to go any lengths to keep that love was a requirement even when we got tired, we placed our exhaustion to the side to keep fighting for a love that really was never for us. We were all made to believe love conquered all, we were never aware that under certain circumstances and conditions it's different. We were never made aware that timing wasn't meant to be tampered with, we had no business trying to force something that wasn't in our path. We don't talk enough about how time is just that time, except we saw it as a figment in our imagination and we could make someone love us in time that maybe they will grow to love us, or maybe, when they decide they're ready we'd be here waiting. We don't talk about sitting on the sidelines watching the one we love, love someone else and continuing to believe one day that could be us. We don't talk about why we sit and convince ourselves we deserve a love that doesn't deserve us. We don't talk about how unworthy we feel, so we try and fill the void with someone to love us and with any ounce of what feels like love, we wait because they could be the one. We don't talk about how many we turn down because our heart belongs to someone else. There's never anything good that comes from waiting. There's never anything good that comes from forcing or chasing. No one will ever take you serious when you wait for them... it's like an open door to your heart, they can bruise you and you'll still be there with all the love to give. You will only be treated exactly how you let yourself be treated, don't be someone's maybe, someone's one day. You deserve someone who won't ever make you wait, who never has to question if they love you, who will never make you question if they do.
