Let me tell you, even from a human perspective, why this is an incredibly wise decision.

Islam cares so deeply about lineage and ancestry that it does not want a child to carry the lifelong stigma of being born out of wedlock. This is why, after li’an, even if the woman refuses to swear, she is not executed for adultery. After li’an, the child quietly becomes affiliated with the mother, but nobody can openly label the child illegitimate. At most, people would say the father disowned the child.

With DNA testing, however, you can end up with a child publicly marked as ‘born out of wedlock,’ forced to live with stigma because of a mistake he or she never made.

Plus, you want to use DNA to prove that a woman committed adultery? No way on earth Islam would permit that.

Because after a DNA test, even if it eventually turns out the child is yours, it is highly unlikely that any woman would remain in a marriage with a man who publicly accused her of adultery and brought such humiliation into his own home.

So, what is the point if the marriage has already crashed? Obviously, li’an suffices, it makes damages from both sides minimal.
