Last night, at a Schodack Town Board meeting, we had the pleasure of promoting Officer Joseph Favorito to the rank of Sergeant.
Since joining SPD in 2024, Joe has become an integral part of the SPD team.

Our March 2026 Activity Report is attached. New look, same content. Noticeable spike in domestic related incidents this past month. We also noticed a reduction in scam related complaints. Vehicle crashes have also declined, and this is likely weather related.

Friss was arraigned in Schodack Town Court on March 12, 2026, and was released on his own recognizance.

ARRESTED: Robert Friss, age 60, of Mechanicville, NY, was arrested following a proactive traffic stop investigation.

On Thurs, 3/12/26, members of the SPD conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Friss for a NYS VTL violation on Routes 9 and 20 in the Town of Schodack.

A K-9 search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small quantity of crack cocaine along with packaging materials. Friss was taken into custody, and a subsequent search of his person led to the discovery of approximately one ounce of crack cocaine.

ARRESTED: Jianbin Chen, age 22, of Quincy, Massachusetts, was arrested Saturday evening following a larceny/fraud investigation. See our press release below.

We hope to accomplish this by conducting routine enforcement checks and by working closely with Amazon staff to install signage that increases driver awareness.

Commercial vehicle enforcement is in full swing. SPD will be out doing regular enforcement and safety compliance inspections as we work to certify another member.

We receive numerous complaints regarding improper turns at this location. SPD will continue to work on reducing violations and preventing collisions.
