Equitable K-12 public school ratings, elevating diverse and global majority schools, shifting focus from parent income to educators making a difference.
Retweet if you support fair school ratings, instead of ratings that favor wealthy schools and underrate high quality lower income schools. Parents need a more balanced view on school quality when making a housing decision. @zillow@Redfin@realtordotcom

@LesterJMilton @Edu_Historian They distribute tax funding evenly among schools, instead of over funding schools in wealthy areas and underfunding schools in economically challenged areas.
Today's school ratings are based on the legacy proficiency model. Proficiency is an affluence rating. The value-add model accounts for student demography, elevating diverse schools. Let home buyers decide which method is better for their family. @councilofmls@nardotrealtor

It is so important for parents to evaluate a school’s community. Parents would visit schools they might otherwise not consider if they were aware of SchoolSparrow.
Despite the fact that charters in NC siphon resources from public schools, and that the highest performing public school students tend to get moved to charter schools; still, public schools outperform charters in NC. https://t.co/ybv3DbkJoU @theNCForum@ncpublicschools@PS1NC
Not sure why—years after courts & scholars revealed teacher eval systems (based on standardized test scores) to be fatally flaw—North Carolina thinks they will help. It will just further demoralize a state that has been bleeding teachers for a decade. https://t.co/kkjewB1q6y
So true. There are thousands of "inner-city" schools that suffer from deep inequities, yet many of these schools are providing a great education. Today's school rating system doesn't allow a distinction between the two. All marginalized inner-city schools get low ratings.
