Yesterday in Nebraska, Trump said:

“Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego.”

The White House argued people were misinterpreting him.

Tonight in San Antonio, Trump went back to the SAME TWO AMERICAN CITIES.

San Diego.

Los Angeles.

Again invoking the possibility of Iran striking them while defending his war.

Then:

“You want to see a horror show?”

Whatever explanation was offered for Nebraska now has to account for something new:

HE REPEATED IT.

A president publicly invoking specific American cities as examples of what Iran could attack is consequential enough once.

Doing it again, after the first remarks caused an uproar, is not something that can simply be dismissed as one badly constructed sentence.

San Diego and Los Angeles are American cities.

The commander in chief’s job is to protect them, not repeatedly put their names into a rhetorical scenario about an enemy attacking the United States.
