I’ve been thinking a lot about how we scale neurotech.
Current approaches (e.g. DBS for PD) aren’t meeting the need. Emerging ones may fare even worse.
That’s why I’m scoping an @ARIA_research programme to develop neurotech built for scale.

Excited to be attending the Cambridge Bioelectronics Symposium 2024. Looking forward to engaging with peers and exploring the latest research developments!
During our visit @microshep, @OiHollie, and I presented our respective research on infected skin models, chronic wound healing and bioelectronics to students and staff at Nanjing Medical University. Thank you to our hosts for having us! @ShefDentistry
Explored the training facilities at Nanjing Medical University today, including VR/haptic station for student dentists. The extensive phantom head rooms, capable of accommodating 120 students, were impressive. @ashleytowers, 5 VR for 140 students, but more to come @ShefDentistry
In China for a collaborative visit to Nanjing Medical University's Dental Research and Training Hospital alongside @microshep and @OiHollie. Looking forward to reconnecting with former colleague @zhengkaishot and discussing advances in dental science @ShefDentistry@royalsociety
This now wraps up with the final Session no. 5.
Dr Piergiorgio Gentile- Layer-by-layer assembly for multilayered constructs
Dr Helen Matthews- The mechano-biology of cancer cell division
Dr Tom Paterson- Navigating the Biomedical Landscape
What an incredible effort it's been!!
Join our research team and design a soft bioelectronic device for selective cooling of stroke-affected areas. Work on cutting-edge research to advance implantable neural devices and stroke treatment. Apply for the PhD here: https://t.co/Ox0rc7mCYx #bioelectronics#PhD#stroke
First week back in @ShefDentistry, this time as a lecturer! Been made to feel very welcome by everyone. Will be exploring biomaterials, bioelectronics and additive manufacturing. If anyone has advice/anecdotes for academics just starting up I'd be keen to hear it.
