A little 2023 boost for our PhD studentship! (Note - the deadline is 27th Feb, don't worry about the earlier Essex date currently indicated on the advert, that's an error we're getting fixed).
Funded PhD studentship
We have a funded #PhD opportunity available at the University of Essex, all about understanding foraging behaviour in teams: https://t.co/4ycx1jcK89. UK and international students are eligible. Do get in touch if you'd like to discuss more!
Great experience to share our (@ivb_cas and @AviEcoMig) videos on cuckoo research with @zefrank and his True Facts! Over 2 millions views for the episode about brood parasites!👏 https://t.co/i82qzsewH5

It's Friday. I'm off to see the Tedeschi Trucks Band this evening. And @ScienceAnna have just found out that we've been successful in applying for a PhD studentship :)
@sheardcat Different universities do seem to have different ways of doing it, so if you already know the system at your current university, it might be quicker than at a new institution...
@sheardcat UK permanent lectureship positions tend to require you to do FHEA as part of your probation if you don't already have it. So potentially worth getting it out of the way? Depends on your future plans, I'd say!
Had a lovely few days teaching R at @Aston_IHN with @AlasdairClarke - a fantastic group of students and amazing organisation from @RachelLaraGreen and Tom James. We hope everyone enjoyed it as much as we did!
