but now I've done my research and really understand what it can be like for mill animals. Animal welfare is a real issue that we have in this world, and this class has brought that to my attention and caused me to really care.

This class has helped me to learn and practice real research! Using key words, finding credible sources, and even using AI for inspiration were all really useful ways to find info! #WhatIlearnedinWR60

Something I learned at the beginning of the quarter is how complex the cognitive abilities of dogs and birds actually are. I was really surprised that birds are as intelligent as they are, as it's not really something I've thought about. #WhatIlearnedinWR60

Something I'll always remember is how we learned to write with scicomm articles. My major is biochemistry and I'm sure as I progress through my years of schooling, this skill will come in handy when I need to explain something complex to a non-scientist! #WhatIlearnedinWR60

@gin_giselle I'm also doing research and advocating against puppy mills! Adopting from shelters has definitely seemed like the simplest solution to the problem that anyone can do!

A counterargument to the issue of puppy mills could be "why should I care? How do we even know these mills exist?"
There is no way to enforce sympathy from others, but the way I see it (and many others who advocate against animal cruelty) is like this... #UCanimals

As humans who have the ability to speak up and cause change, I believe it is up to us to end their misery. There are solutions and ways to end this problem, and if humans are the reason for this problem to exist in the first place, which we are, then we must act to solve it.

A counterargument that some people may have is "how do we know these organizations are actually doing anything with the money donated"? Well, CAPS has a section on their website that actually shows the different programs that donation money goes towards... #UCanimals
