@hirenj@Nature@NamgyuLee1 @chrashwood @KarlSimin@cholsoon_jang@lab_mercurio@MarianWalhout @JBSpinelli Hi Hiren, that is an excellent point. Regarding UGTs, we've thought about them but have not looked extensively. They do not seem to comprise a significant 'sink' that consumes the aberrant accumulation of UDPGA. 1/2

.@eric_lander says he’s seen the U.S. take on “amazing challenges” to make the world a better place. Now, he says, “the opportunities we have and the challenges we face are greater than ever before” https://t.co/Be6jNLkMh5

Hello SciTwitter, I am proud to share ANOTHER paper out of the Kim Lab today-this time a great review written by my good friends and lab mates @NamgyuLee1 and Meghan, and myself in a supporting role, and advised by Do. Congrats again Kim Lab!🎉 Read here: https://t.co/Q5JWL93Syh
Selenium metabolism protects them against ferroptotic insults, but a toxic intermediate formed in this process can be exploited to poison them. Congratulations co-first authors

Selenium is a micronutrient that is incorporated into selenoproteins via the selenocysteine biosynthesis pathway. The authors describe a two-faced role for selenium in cancer cells (1/2)
Today I celebrate the publication of the research paper I have worked hard to develop for the past 4 years. Next up, thesis defense- PhD here I come! Most importantly: I could not have done this without my family, friends, and lab mates. Congratulations, Kim Lab! 🎉🎉🎉
🚨BREAKING: preliminary data from an ongoing clinical study of #remdesivir showed that in 113 patients with severe #COVID19:
▶️Fever/symptoms rapidly improved
▶️Most discharged within 6 days
▶️2 died (1.8%), much less than expected for severe #COVID19
https://t.co/XsgC7ryiri
As expected, data emerges to explain observations of #COVID19 “reinfection”—here, most patients who were ”redetected positive” were actually never truly negative. Plus reinfection cannot be rampant if family members living together successively infect each other but all recover.
