I want to take a moment to acknowledge international students:
The constant worry & energy spent working on immigration documents
Being excluded from funding opportunities valued for postdoc & faculty positions
And the emotional toll of being away from family
Soil and bark biodiversity forms discrete islands between vineyards that are not affected by distance or management regime. Great work Lucie and team! @LJiraska, @ScienceJed, @beatrixjones3. https://t.co/vsYtOfOtTj
Huge thank you to everyone at #NZMS22 for creating a friendly and engaging meeting filled with great science!
I am very grateful to win the student oral presentation competition and for @MicrobiologyNz and @ASMicrobiology

Question for my Auckland International PhDs, when you handed in what was the deal with the visa? Does it automatically convert from Student to the post-Phd one or did you have to apply for it? Now uni has closed their visa advisor service I'm not sure...
@marinaklemm the joys... while they were terrible at actually processing it through the Symonds Street Medical Centre was the cheapest place I saw when looking last year and had a slight student discount from memory so maybe take a look there? It's sucks, and especially now no help at uni
Just watched @Jemma_Geoghegan's talk about tracking Covid-19 through genomics in NZ and it was so incredibly interesting. @ESRNewZealand are the Poirot of of contact tracing and I won't believe otherwise. Great topic choice @faobmb2021!
@anniegwest Thanks Annie! Sorry I couldn't give a more comprehensive answer to your question. Looking forward to yours, I've grown very fond of Kākāpō over my time here!
Just another reminder that if you're attending the virtual #FAOBMB2021 Congress you can tune into Parallel Session B4 and see my talk about how Management and Location affects microbial biodiversity of Vineyards here in New Zealand! Listen to my dulcet tones and maybe even learn!
Catch me at @faobmb2021 parallel session B4 on Monday 22nd. Feel free to come along and ask questions. They don't even need to be talk related, I've an answer about just how I got to be so handsome all lined up!
My top four career tips for young scientists asking how to best prepare for a future career in the biomedical sciences:

@JordanDoesFlu@MicrobioSoc Nice one Jordan! Any way of seeing the presentation if we weren't able to attend? Also, that looks like a nasty cut above your eyebrow. I hope you aVOId injuries like that in the future!
