@FuuTop1 I think that the PC ports from PS getting cancelled is because the next Xbox is rumored to support Steam. Had nothing to do with fans imo. Catering to people already on your platform is stupid. They aren't going to up and leave the ecosystem over a game going to another platform
What did you want of out SoP you didn't see? It was one of their better shows imo. Higher quality games. Also this show was probably 80% baked by the time she was in position. Only so much you can change in such a short time. Game development cycles are 4-7 years... We aren't going to see Asha's real vision and overall impact until 28/29.
Xbox hasn't had a good launch for a first party game since like 2008 outside of Forza. They need to go multiplatform for awhile until the trust is built up in their studios. Like the pull on E-Day isn't going to move the needle, it's purely appeasing people who are already on the platform, not gaining market share. If they can build up some good graces over the next few years... they can transition back during the next generation to drive the platform.
@LORDCOSMOERA@charlieINTEL I do think it wasn't the best closer but when you spend almost 70 billion to purchase Activision? Prooooobably gotta give it's golden goose a limelight.
@TotesOfficial_@Gaming_bo3gg I mean sure, but ithe argument I was making is that 4 years in game industry is nothing. The delay for fable could absolutely be GTA placement, but still the dev cycle was almost 7 years even if it launched 3 months earlier or later
@BringBackBanjoK I'm with you honestly. If you're an all out gamer you own a PS5/Switch/PC and you have access to all current libraries. The Xbox is left behind in this scenario, why pay 700 for a system that holds back your experience when you already have a PC that's high end.
New IP are extremely risky which sucks. Most AAA projects are running 150 million plus. Not sure if anything FF7 budget has been shared, but as an example Horizon Zero Dawn/Forbidden West are relatively new IPs with the debut in 2017. Budgets were reportedly 200m and 250m respectively. Huge gambles if they don't pay off. That's why these big companies are so risk adverse in gaming, one flop bankrupts a company. Remakes/Remasters or sequal after sequal are far safer. I agree that I want to see some risks and new IPs out there, that's why I try to give them all a shot especially when they are AAA. That's where AA games are starting to find their niche IMO, they take risks on a more manageable budget and it's starting to pay off.
Its just so different than most other industries. If you look at something like iPhones, they could release a complete flop of a phone one year that doesn't sell well at all and it would absolutely hurt financials, but it would not put them out of business. The current AAA model is not sustainable on a macro scale. Something will have to adjust eventually.
@Coyote_lnc@HereticDelphox 100% - it's a high quality remake. It takes some liberties to do some stuff differently so don't expect 1:1, but at the end of the day experience it for yourself, if it turns out to be not for you, so be it.
Part 1 is more linear
Part 2 is very open world
Im not sure that is going to drive sales of Xbox consoles... Gears just isn't what it used to be. People aren't going to buy a new console for this title. All it would do is limit sales. Xbox needs to make some good first party titles first... But not just good.. GOTY contenders and system selling games that are multi-platform. Prove with this slate of games that you can make bangers again, and then shift platform release strategy with the Helix launch. At this point in the game, nobody is picking up Xbox hardware for games that "might" be good. Take in the cash while you can, hook some folks from PlayStation on some good franchises, then change it over with a massive slate of exclusives in 28 and 29.
It seems like more of a knee jerk reaction because of Twitter Xbox players who need to feel validated for their purchase and undying loyalty to the brand.. that won't drive growth by itself and I don't see those players ever leaving regardless of the decision you make.
There's a time to go back to exclusives, I just think that the games you already advertised multi platform should stay as advertised. It's really hard to win a customer base over by saying "Hey! Remember how we said this was coming to PS5 this time? Well it's not! Please buy my system, game pass, and game instead!" People don't spend between 500 to 1000 on a company pulling a rug from under them lol
The other thing is, if gears reloaded didn't sell overly well on PS5 anyways.... What good does it do to make it exclusive? You're limiting your sales hoping that those people console hop instead? Especially since the game is so close to release, the dev cost is already sunk for a PS5 port.
I have my doubts as well, but I think it needs to be said and it's a good mindset change. If you listen to Phil the last few years, he gave up on becoming the number one place. Citing they lost the most important generation and it wasn't inspiring. Her plan will be very different but we haven't seen it yet, I just hope that she guess about it the right way. I want a reason to own an Xbox and with a really high end PC I just don't see it. I also want her to put pressure back on Sony.
I actually think it makes more sense than Kratos. His character development has come full circle at this point, where do you even go from here with him?
There's no narrative reason for him to kill more God's. He's moved on from it. He has forgiven himself for his past, become a father and sent Atreus off to be his own person and his own journey.
Candidly Atreus made the most sense but everyone whined like little bitches about his gameplay sections so this was a different way to push the narrative forward because it's necessary and I couldn't be more excited for it. We know Kratos will return in future installments, but this is a God of War game and it needs to be advertised as such or people will be lost in the next game.
If all you want is for Kratos to go kill God's for fun, then I think you're in the wrong franchise at this point sorry to say. He didn't even want the fight with Baldur and the Norse Pantheon. He was trying to remove himself from it all.
This game is the bridge for Kratos journey to continue and Faye is a badass. She's the one he fought and respected, was able to settle him enough to try and find his own peace, become a father and husband again.
If you can't see how all that is way more indepth story telling because you would prefer "Big Guy Kill Stuff" I can get you a box of crayons, respectfully.
