Currently the Colorado Bureau of Investigations has over 2500 background checks in the queue to approve.

So if these people showed up to buy firearms in the approved timely manner that the state implemented allowing time for the 3 day wait as well, but the systems in place cannot accomplish the task for the consumer, the citizen gets the 💩 end of the stick and oh well, they no longer get the guns without having to deal with the new rules for purchasing banned guns.
