@HwsEleutheroi When Handel got to the Hallelujah chorus, his assistant found him in tears, saying, “I think I did see heaven open, and the very face of God.” https://t.co/iiW8lcPd5k
@AriLamm @Lynel_Hutz Check out hineni in Genesis 22:1, 7, and 11. I’m not agreeing with your view of Joseph, but it would take too long to deal with it all, and I’m sure would not convince. :) I do agree with your suggestion that the Hebrew text is very enlightening.
@NancyRPearcey Ronald Reagan on October 27, 1964 (his famous “A Time for Choosing” speech) bemoaned the left saying that the Constitution should be abandoned. This leftist idea is reprehensible but not new.
Fantastic and comfortably short articles in our church newsletter this month pertaining to our upcoming local and national elections!

This economic empowerment of the global poor has been largely overlooked, especially by those who demand a socialistic scheme of income redistribution.
The share of people in extreme poverty has never been lower — ever
In 2023, 8.6% of all people were poor (below $2.15, what was once known as a dollar a day)
In the 1980s, more than 40% of the world was extremely poor
In 1820, more than 90% were!

@drmoore I liked Gilead, and she may be right (I hope not) on this reason for churches filling, but in the end this “theory” is old-fashioned neo-orthodox nonsense. The real historicity of the “narrative” matters!
@doogilla It works for every approximate 20 year period of my life:
1962–Cuban missle crisis (or ‘63 Kennedy assassination)
1980–Reagan revolution;
2001—9/11;
(Also works a bit before that too w/WW2)
@erichoke Graduated in engineering from a state university,worked in industry for four years saving money for seminary,went to seminary (including a year in Israel),and then became a pastor-with no student loans. I got advice to do this from an Inter-Varsity staff. I’d do it again.
@doogilla Talented man AND discovered Joni Mitchell. He, by his own admission, got more years on earth than his lifestyle merited. Diabetes, heart disease, liver transplant—much of that due to massive use of drugs. Prison got him off drugs.
@edstetzer How does he decide when to depart from the storyline and the geography of the Gospel record? What benefit is it to change the order and location of events? What are the hazards of doing that?
@pastorjgkell Does this illustration from nature teach the hazard of flirting with temptation after a warning? Sorry, I don’t see that the grasshopper is flirting with temptation. Rather, he is ignorant of the hazard nearby. So, it seems a more apt illustration of 1 Pet 5:8 than Gen 4:7.
@doogilla @Twitter Does Deuteronomy 18:22 apply to this prophecy? Or is this a prophecy with no certain date, so we can never know if it’s fulfilled or not? I mean, *eventually* your prophecy is bound to come true, right? If in AD 3823 it comes to pass, I guess you’re off the hook. :)
