@IslesFix Agreed. The #Isles now have 38(!) age 30+ seasons locked onto their cap sheet going forward. That's way too many considering the lack of upper-end talent. The merits of each move aside, adding another six age 34+ seasons was directionally wrong.
@paqdaddy@nathanzg8@youngroyal88@Newfie_EGK@SNstats Ekblad won it in 2015 despite scoring 25 fewer points than Stone and Gaudreau (39 vs 64). And trust me, you don't even want to look at Barret Jackman in 2003.
@thegogglesdo@NYIslesNation My math could be wrong, but I count 51 total age 30+ player seasons on the books starting next year. On a team that’s already declining, in a league where the best players are skewing younger and younger. That’s pretty rough shape.

@BDGallof Which, BTW, even if he's not on the hot seat (which I agree he is), he'll be 80 years old this time next year. There's likely to be a new GM in the near future no matter what, which makes all of this incredibly puzzling in terms of timing.
@BDGallof In that case, what reputable coach from outside the org is going to want this job? In 12 months he may well have a new boss who didn't hire him, which almost never ends well (for the coach).
@habermetrics OTOH, Lou will be 80 at the start of the season. If they go outside the org for a truly new voice, that person will almost assuredly soon be reporting to a GM who didn't hire him, which is a setup that literally never works in sports. Just a mess all around.
@Philzfacts@BDGallof Was always surprised that they didn't do what the early 2000s Blues did and play those guys together 28 mins a night to cover for the deficiencies in the other pairings.
