@Ironicglasses@neontaster Ancient discussion but, just for info, 6 was originally intended to be set to the actual Planets but the licence fee was too high. Hence, expecially, the overture.
"As magical as a white Christmas..."
@anticdispo's #AChristmasCarol features in @Londonist's great roundup of the many adaptations of the story on stage this festive season!

@Antoine_Tst@Elysee@DMdoubleV Essentially the only people in the UK who do not regard the Telegraph as a tabloid are the (diminishing number of) people who read it. It has not been regarded as a serious newspaper for a very, very long time.
We're delighted to announce that, this December, Antic Disposition will be returning to the spectacular setting of Middle Temple Hall in London with the most perennially popular of all our productions, #AChristmasCarol.

@Paddys_worldFTW@oioisavvy@SolihullPolice@WMPolice You are not legally required to give your name to the police if they have no reasonable basis to suspect an offence. They can ask for it. They have no right to get it, and they have no legal power to apprehend you for not giving it.
During the lockdown our crew will be loading the pirate ship with marigold gloves, hand-sanitisers and rum as they sail to the #PalaceTheatre on 13 December to give you a much needed post-lockdown Christmas treat. The show must go on! https://t.co/DrvXiHqtZu photo: @ScottRylander
@djbleachyuk@Luke82468168@Slasher So if we want to help other people in that position, we need to try to help by letting them know there are people to reach out to. What we cannot do is stand in judgment from the perspective of people who are not in trouble over things we cannot understand.
@djbleachyuk@Luke82468168@Slasher No. But we need to discuss it in an understanding light. Treating it as a simple choice made by a fully rational person doesn't work. You can't help someone not thinking straight by telling them to think straight. It doesn't help those at risk, it doesn't help those left behind.
@Luke82468168@djbleachyuk@Slasher There's pain in this debate, so know I'm not trying to "compete" - that's not why we're here. But from what I've seen, where people go can't reduce to "it's selfish". That matters. Being plagued by Qs like "what did I do wrong" hurts; the answer, almost always, is "nothing".
@Luke82468168@djbleachyuk@Slasher With respect, this kind of reasoning doesn't apply to someone whose head isn't working right. If you ask from the point of view of someone who is thinking clearly why someone kills themself, you'll say it's selfish. Well, yes, but people thinking like that DON'T kill themselves.
@djbleachyuk@Slasher 4. Someone who takes their own life is no different.
It is not a rational choice; it is an effect of being ill. It is horrific, but it is not the fault of the person doing it. Importantly, it is not the fault of the people around them EITHER. It is an illness.
@djbleachyuk@Slasher 3. All they knew was that their world was falling to pieces.
People need to understand that mental illness is an illness -- not one with tumours, or organ damage -- but an illness all the same. You can't sensibly get angry at someone who, for example, passes from cancer.
@djbleachyuk@Slasher 2. or you can get better -- the sufferer can no longer see.
It's like you've been dropped into a cave but you DON'T KNOW that you've been dropped in it so you don't know to look for the path out. It doesn't help to ask "why didn't they walk out". They didn't know they had to.
@djbleachyuk@Slasher 1. This is a pretty personal thing to write here + i don't know if it helps you, but mental illness means people can't think straight. The brain stops seeing things properly.
What's obvious to you and me -- eg talk to someone, or look at all the people around you who care,
