"There's whiskey drinkers and milk drinkers, and we've got a lot of whiskey drinkers on this team."
On a real rivalry, an epic gold medal game, and the stark contrast between winners and losers to close the Olympics.

SNY is thrilled to announce Chelsea Janes as our new MLB Insider.
She was previously with The Washington Post as a national baseball writer.
Welcome to SNY, @chelsea_janes!
I have rebranded my free newsletter as By Jesse Dougherty.
Consider it an open-ended thing, going with the post-layoff winds, starting ... uh ... now?
More on that here. I'd love it if you subscribed (or stuck with it if you already do): https://t.co/bdT8sOZU5A
One thing to make clear: American athletes don't necessarily arrive at the Olympics, guns blazing with their thoughts about the state of things in a binary world.
They're asked, and they answer -- thoughtfully, with nuance. Isn't that what we want? https://t.co/tO9Qhg4DMO

Welcome to Nats Journal. Hope you'll join me on this new endeavor, and hope you'll help spread the word!

There plenty of ways to play great football. The Seahawks strangled Super Bowl LX and showed again that the only way to play the best football is well-coordinated violence. https://t.co/6VO40iXZBz
Do you sometimes watch the Winter Olympics and think ... who even does these sports?
We analyzed the locations of more than 2,500 training facilities for Winter Olympic sports. Check to see what's near you — and which sports are hard to find.

Will Lewis’s exit is long overdue. His legacy will be the attempted destruction of a great American journalism institution. But it's not too late to save The Post. Jeff Bezos must immediately rescind these layoffs or sell the paper to someone willing to invest in its future.
Just to be clear, there were no 2,000-word features on a local basketball team. More than anything, it speaks to the lack of engagement with the sports department from whoever this unnamed person is, someone who likely helped decide the fate of dedicated reporters and editors.
Will Lewis was too busy to join the call to tell his staff he’s destroying the @washingtonpost sports department yesterday … but he did have time to walk the red carpet at NFL Honors here in San Francisco today. Amazing.
My last project for The Post went up this morning. I was really excited to work on this after being a competitive figure skater for 12+ years.
