“For whoever is ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him will the Son of Man also be ashamed when he comes in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.””

SOURCES: There’s an assistant opening in the #SEC as @MizzouBaseball hitting coach Bryson LeBlanc, who has spent the last three seasons in Columbia, will not return to the program, I’m told. Missouri’s search for a new hitting coach is wide open. #Mizzou
Need some input from other coaches out there.
I honestly don’t recall anyone ever tearing an ACL when I was in HS (mid-2000s). Why are they so prevalent now?
My two theories:
No one rides bikes
No one jumps on trampolines.
Or could it be the playing surfaces?
@ScottVanSlick Because the Statue in question is of Jay Banks, not just an unnamed Texas Ranger.
He fought against Integrating Schools in Texas.
So it isn't the Texas Ranger Statue that is the problem, but rather the man who it is based on.
@ScottVanSlick Again, it's moreso that it's a very specific Ranger being depicted that is controversial, not as much as it being an anonymous depiction of the team's namesake.
@ScottVanSlick The Texas Rangers (law enforcement org) started as slave catchers and the individual that statue depicts was an ardent segregationist and white supremacist.
The Texas Rangers installed a deeply controversial statue in their ballpark concourse this spring. And they aren't willing to provide answers as to why it's there.
Yikes.
Important work from @SamBlum3: https://t.co/LCvMyrHqrk
around 135 AD
The Roman Emperor **Hadrian** renamed the province of **Judea** to ** Palaestina) to Erase or weaken Jewish national and historical connection** to the land. It was to associate the land with their enemies the Philistines.
And here we are.
The head tap for a challenge is already becoming a disaster for “accidental” challenges. I vote for everyone to have a yellow hanky in their pocket and you have to throw it like an NFL ref to initiate a challenge. What do you think??
Okay, can we do 50/50 at least? If more than half the ball is in the zone, it is a strike, if not, it is a ball.
Because this is dumb. Sorry if that hurts you.
The concept of "teenager" is a modern invention.
For most of human history, a boy of 13 was already a man, apprenticed in a trade or fighting in a war.
George Washington was a professional surveyor at 16.
Alexander Hamilton managed a trading company at 14.
In medieval Europe, noble boys could be pages at 7 and squires by 14.
In Rome, a boy put on the "toga of manhood" at 14.
The idea that an 18 year-old is "still figuring things out" would have been incomprehensible to our ancestors.
I believe this is why we think teenagers are so troubled. They are men and women stuck in a society that treats them as children. Of course they are going to "rebel".
We should give them more responsibility and expect much more of them.
"The "Philadelphia Inquirer" found dangerous chemicals in the astroturf of the now-demolished Veterans Stadium.
Six Phillies who played on that turf, Tug McGraw, Darren Daulton, John Vukovich, John Oates, Ken Brett, and David West have died of a rare and aggressive brain cancer. The six players all died in their 40's or 50's, roughly three times the rate of the average adult population.
Even more alarming was their mutual diagnosis of glioblastoma.
The Phillies sold pieces of turf in sealed 4 x 4" bags.
The Inquirer purchased four of those on eBay.
Samples analyzed by two separate labs found 16 types of dangerous chemicals in the turf.
They are referred to as “forever chemicals” because they don’t break down and can last in the human body for years.
The US federal government estimates that 12,000 artificial turf fields containing PFAS or “forever chemicals” exist in USA.
Darren 'Dutch' Daulton.
And still no updates on this story!!!
