@CalumDouglas1 When I fixed TV's, that (coupled with a variac) was the safest way to bring up a freshly repaired power supply that you were not 100% certain was completely fixed.
@CommodoreLad It's not dry. It's a thermal stress crack that happens as the joint heats up and cools down from normal use. I made a pretty good living off of those in the 90's.
@davepl1968 2x4's are 1.5x3.5. The space between studs is 14.5", not 16". Add in the bottom plate for typical wall construction, and the volume below a 48" high, razor slot would be 3.5x14.5x46.5 - roughly 2360cu/in. π
@HandyGingerGal I have to make sure every bit of my skin is covered, even to tack weld, or I wind up looking like I fell asleep on an equatorial beach for a week.
@backslashvarphi I was lucky. No permanent damage. My parents, encouraged by my passion for science, bought me some proper Pyrex glassware and safety equipment. That lasted until they found nitric acid, sulfuric acid and glycerin on my shelf of reagents. More good times. π
