@The_Clermontian Also with massive corruption and rug pulls, staging political showdowns that they lose the stomach for and retreat from, no legislative agenda, hollowing out of NIH, and baffling federal appointments. Trump II is a disaster for the far right, completely disqualifying.
@CaioChaves15@nabulionee2 This is very common in modern Roman historians in my experience. Octavian is NOT popular, with special attention paid on his failures and cruelty in his teens to thirties.
@nabulionee2 However German mediatisation was supported by everyone and mostly done pre-Vienna. Recognizing German and Italian reorganization was accepting reality and an opportunity to put allies around Austria. And he opposed Belgian and Greek independence. I think he’s pretty reactionary
@nabulionee2 His argument is that he didn’t desire a pre 1789 world and was more a pro Austrian player, not ideologically reactionary. He was pro German mediatisation, accepted that ancient dynasties would be broken in Italy, And was ok with the July Revolution once Louis Philippe was crowned
@The_Clermontian Why? Is it the fear of becoming the Netherlands and their “a party per MP” system? Or is there a non utility reason to hate proportional systems
