An opportunity to remember with gratitude that the Polish Navy evaded capture in September 1939 and sailed into the Firth of Forth, coming to Britain’s aid in the fight against fascism. But how many British people know this today?
Our @WorthingtonD recently delivered the welcome lecture for the relaunch of a touring exhibition at the @uofglibrary on Robert Porteous, a Scottish-born merchant (d.1661) in Poland. Visit our website for further details of this event, https://t.co/LGqli3Uloh

Robert Wojciech Portius - a Scottish immigrant in Krosno who did well as a wine merchant trading Hungarian wines to people further north. Commanded a fortress in the successful Polish defence of Krosno against invading Transylvanian forces.
I found this old Polish/English dictionary belonging to Tadeusz Edward Zuszyk dated 1945, and the address on it is 14 March Rd, Blackhall, Edinburgh 4. I honestly can’t recall how it ended up in a cupboard in my house, but I’d love to return it to the owner or a family member
Great to have representatives from www.https://t.co/zFGWl0HdUv and @ScottishPolish at the #COP26#Community Art Exhibition at St Cuthbert’s. Great exhibits from the pupils inspired by their amazing staff. We look forward to hosting the Wojtek Service again in the Spring.

The skirl of bagpipes carried through the trees in a corner of a #Polish forest that is forever #Scotland.
I write about the village of Jadów near Warsaw, which is determined to honour its 19th-century Scottish expatriate community, for @thetimes

#OTD 13th September 1940 - the Polish Army football team was beaten 6-0 by Lord Rosebery's XI team at Tynecastle in Edinburgh.
Rather unsportingly, the Scottish fielded three members of their national team.

Years since I’ve been along #Polish Camp Road at #Tentsmuir, but during an epic bike ride today, I was pleased to rediscover the old ruins - including this Polish eagle, Lion Rampant and Thistle etched on the crumbling casing of an old well. #SecondWorldWar#Poland#Scotland
