@DCLAReadingRoom You've solved a long standing mystery for me with this post. I have an old company Ad from 1913 which mentions 'Ovada' .. now I know what it means 🙂 thank you
As part of the Crumlin & Walkinstown History festival this weekend, pop up to Armagh Road and check our the exhibition of forty secondary school Future Historian projects on local topics.
@kieranarose@DubLoony Hugely important site historically. Was to be called 'Percy Street' when first built/laid out in the 1600s onwards. Some building fabric may remain from then. Rere boundary is entirely that of the Old City Watercourse. I predict an important archeological dig...
@DCLAReadingRoom Amazing images. Map shows many irrigation channels from the City Watercourse at the Back of the Pipes. Tenter posts ('tenterhooks') in the fields at the back of James's St. Support system for The Liberties weaving industry. Thanks for sharing
Looks like the Lord Mayor’s Certificate in Local Studies class had another great field trip with course tutor Cathy Scufil, as part of their course. This time the class travelled to the Blessington area and it looks like the weather cooperated to make it a great day out.
@deirdrecolgan3 Hi Deirdre giving it in Walkinstown Library at 2pm Wednesday (tomorrow). Planning to warehouse it for a while after that as I have a new research project on the go 😁
Thanks so much to all who made it to Dolphin's Barn library last night for this talk. We had a full house. For those who missed it, talk will be repeated in Walkinstown library Wed at 2pm. Many thanks to both library teams for arrangements
