23-year-old Connelly Early will be the youngest pitcher to start a postseason game for the Red Sox since 21-year-old Babe Ruth in 1916
Babe Ruth pitched all 14 innings of a 2-1 Red Sox win over the Brooklyn Robins in Game 2 of the World Series. He threw 145 pitches

BREAKING: Outfielder Roman Anthony and the Boston Red Sox are finalizing an eight-year, $130 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal, which is pending a physical, includes a club option and will keep Anthony under team control through 2034.
My main takeaway is that this is an MLB organization. Their job is to identify players that are going to make a huge difference on and off the field. They had their pick of the litter (Mookie, Xander, and Raffy) and knew all 3 of them for years. They made mistakes signing/not signing each of them, didn't read the market, didn't read the player, didn't read the fan reaction/attraction, and now that the dust settles they made mistakes at every single turn.
I don't care at this point if Raffy changed or if he was not willing to change positions multiple times in a season and that that situation had become unmanageable- it's on them for royally fucking up. You don't sign a guy to a 300M contract if you aren't damn sure you know who he is and what his place on the team will be. He got fed up with the way this ownership group has treated the team. Just like us. Whatever part is on Raffy to me is irrelevant when you take a huge step back. These guys have no idea what they are doing.
Manny was knocking out team employees back in the day and we were fine with that for years but apparently Raffy hurting Craig’s feewings is a bridge too far. Raffy better have orchestrated the September 11th attacks to justify this move.
I don’t care that Devers was selfish. Stars — especially 28-year-old, 3-time All-Stars carrying your entire offense in the middle of their prime and a career year — get to be selfish.
It’s on the manager to manage games and egos, and the front office to problem-solve. Make it work with him. Fix your mess.
This was once the organization of “Manny being Manny,” because Manny hit like Devers is now. Those players are rare, invaluable. Keep them.
Oh, and imagine if Bregman walks in a few months? Bang-up job, everybody.
And don’t think for a second it’s a coincidence this trade dropped moments before a loooong road trip. Leadership can’t even take getting booed. But boy, we’ll be waiting.
The Red Sox really said to themselves, “I know it’s been five years and everyone already hates us for it and thinks we’re complete idiots, but how do we make the Mookie Betts trade look even worse? I got it. Let’s trade Rafael Devers a year and a half into his 10-year deal.”
BREAKING: Left-hander Garrett Crochet and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a six-year, $170 million contract extension, sources tell ESPN. The deal starts in 2026 and includes an opt-out after 2030. By far the largest deal ever for a pitcher with 4+ years of service.
Is it not funny that stats didn’t matter last year for both MVP and All Pro and now this year some switch has flipped and the stats are all that matters? You cannot really ignore that, no matter which side you’re on. One year its narratives, MVP moments, and records, the next year its stats
@SleeperHQ to start the year our league made TE scoring an extra point, we realized it was wrong and changed it this week, however it’s changing the scores of games that have been played, how do we prevent that from happening
