.@A_W_Global@CICTMAR@bulgood @BrendanGodley New Patient - Hulk, adult male green sea turtle, has severe boat strike injuries to his carapace. The turtle’s wounds are being treated using VAC (vacuum-assisted closure) therapy that creates a negative pressure to promote healing.
.@A_W_Global@CICTMAR@bulgood Last week, a leatherback beached on a sandbar in the ICW in Jupiter with a hook in her shoulder. Our staff veterinarian removed it onsite. The turtle was then moved from the Intracoastal to the ocean w/ help from Florida Fish and Wildlife 📷:LMC

.@A_W_Global@CICTMAR@bulgood Sherman, a juvenile hawksbill sea turtle. A reminder to dispose of trash properly. He weighed 1/2 lb when he washed back last yr. He spent 6 wks at LMC passing plastic he ate in the ocean. He was released in June and we hope he's doing well!
.@A_W_Global@CICTMAR@bulgood LMC's newest patient was treated for a lung infection and chronic debilitation in 2016. This week "K. Sea" was hooked by a fisherman. One hook in the mouth was removed and we're hoping one in the stomach will pass. 📷:LMC
It might look like something out of Finding Nemo, but this is actually a scientific project by @ceibahamas called "TurtleCam." The footage has revealed previously unseen interactions between these mysterious creatures—and is also just very, very, very cute.
.@A_W_Global@CICTMAR@bulgood Great teamwork today - Florida Fish and Wildlife, Blowing Rocks Preserve and Loggerhead Marinelife Center - rescued this Loggerhead sea turtle. It’s recouperating at LMC’s hospital. 📸:The Nature Conservancy Florida

.@A_W_Global@CICTMAR@bulgood @BrendanGodley This turtle has showed up the St. Lucie Nuclear Power Plant 47 times since 1989. Sea turtles sometimes swim in with the seawater used to cool the facility. They are safely removed and given a brief exam before returning to the ocean
.@A_W_Global@CICTMAR @BrendanGodley @bulgood We don't see too many adult Kemp's ridleys at LMC. Cupid, 61 lbs, w/shark bites to left front flipper, plastron & head; also has pneumonia. Wounds are treated w/therapeutic laser. Pneumonia - antibiotic nebulization.
.@A_W_Global @BrendanGodley @CICTMAR@bulgood Valentine's Day brought two new patients to LMC. Cupid - an adult Kemp's ridley, w/shark bite injuries and pneumonia. Valentina - a sub-adult loggerhead w/chronic debilitation, and a missing left front flipper from unknown trauma.
. @A_W_Global@CICTMAR @BrendanGodley Topsy, a 90lb green sea turtle with a buoyancy issue needs some weights to balance. LMC vet tech Samantha, a.k.a. MacGyver, came up with this belt and suspenders with pockets to hold the weights. Looking pretty stylish!
.@CICTMAR @BrendanGodley @A_W_Global Interesting article highlighting innovative work done by Charles Manire, DVM, at Loggerhead Marinelife Center. Red Tide is a devastating killer of marine life on Florida's southwest coast. https://t.co/fqM5IApzQk
