@mrslauraknight @bertsbooks I accidentally started at book 3…and was hooked right away. Went back and read bk1 and bk2, and thought they were not as good. The story gets better with the telling. Book 1 for sure sets the stage, but I’ve laughed and cried with the others.

My mate back in England married his first ever girlfriend.

They met at school. Never left our hometown. He still works at British Gas, the same company he joined at 21. Heads down the pub every Friday.

They've got two kids, a garden, a dog. She still looks at him like he's the only man in the room.

He's never read Atomic Habits. Never "worked on himself." Never bothered to optimize his supplement stack.

I moved to four countries, built a business, reinvented my entire life. I wouldn't change any of it.

But when he sends a photo of his family eating Sunday roast together, I think maybe we're all overcomplicating this.

i don't think every book needs to change your life. sometimes a book just makes an ordinary afternoon nicer. honestly, that's already a pretty good job

@Bannef_ I think Agatha Christie writing just holds up so well to reading more than once. Even when I remember the antagonist, I second guess myself with her books. Highly recommend The Spiders Web for a little more “cozy crime”
from Agatha. The dialogue is brilliant. 📚

Focus on the things you are for, not the things you are against.

Many people spend large chunks of their day thinking about what they hate. They are always telling you about something they dislike: this food, that subject, this political party, that coworker.

You are more than your frustrations. Build your identity around what you love.
