It would be cool - hypothetically speaking - if there were a social media site resembling twitter, but without the attempts to maximize "engagement," monetize your data, or even just ads.
Like, a platform where people just made chill spaces to have cool communities in.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE READING THE FULL RULES BECAUSE THEY ARE WORSE THAN YOU ARE WILLING TO BELIEVE AND LITERALLY EVERYONE HAS POSTED SOMETHING LIKE THIS https://t.co/ZoTevTthJO
We recognize that many of our players play other video games. However, we will no longer allow Satisfactory players to play any other video games such as Minecraft, Goat Simulator, God of War, Runescape, Final Fantasy.
Stray is okay though. Cute cat. Also the mouse game is okay.
You can join any server you want and still interact with me. I recommend finding a smaller one, since the big, obvious ones are overfull and poorly moderated, but it's also relatively easy to migrate later on.
Ask me outside of Twitter if you want help figuring it out.
I've been meaning to make an alt account over in that other place, just for better separation of identities, and broadly share that one instead of my current.
But since I haven't yet, I'll let you all know that I can be found at dragon dot style, under the name "aearo."
Again, to summarize, you can no longer say "follow me on" or promote:
- Facebook
- Instagram
- Mastodon
- Truth Social
- Tribel
- Post
- Nostr
ALSO, Linktree and other link aggregators are prohibited.
AND, attempts to cloak/hide or otherwise get around this are also bannable.
@JohnDiesattheEn I mean, I agree it would be nice if this were made clearer somewhere where newcomers would see it.
"Pick a server" does seem to be a sticking point for an awful lot of people. Even though it's not exactly a new sort of thing to have to do on the internet.
@JohnDiesattheEn It's like signing up for email: You pick an email provider.
They're all different. There isn't a "sign-up page" for, just, Email.
Or at least, all of that would be true in a different universe where Gmail never existed, but I hope it's clear anyway what I'm saying.
I did not delete this tweet, but Twitter has deleted it without notifying me.
Elno’s free speech is where he makes his team silently delete your old tweets that he doesn’t like.
This is *exactly* as I imagined, and provides the most straightforward explanation for anyone still trying to grasp at complicated theories on how the "SpaceX genius" could possibly be so bad at this. https://t.co/gRAgBgCPo7
Mastodon has just passed over 2 million active monthly users, a new record! People are voting with their feet. The future of social media doesn't have to belong to a billionaire, it can be in the hands of its users.
@hexacult_beast (Anyway, that's enough proselytizing from me! I just want people to have a good initial experience with the fediverse. It's good and worth using.)
@hexacult_beast If/when you do give it a second chance, check out the Local and Federated timelines. That's where the action will be if you aren't following anyone.
Local is public posts from folks on your instance. That's why it's good to pick a small, friendly one. Federated's from everywhere.
