2022 Candidate for Simi Valley City Council D2. Workforce Housing, Water Recycling & Robust Public Transit. I'm here to stay in Simi... not sure about Twitter
Well folks, what we have now are just about the final results. While I lost the race, getting 43% of the vote isn’t too shabby as a 23-year-old college student running against a 12-year councilmember who first took office when I was in elementary school. (1/4)
Single-payer now!! We need more people providing healthcare, not determining what is and isn't covered and where. We have a terribly inefficient system. Only single-payer will ensure that providers receive proper and timely reimbursement, and it will cost us less.
On this day in 1955, Emmett Till was murdered by white supremacists.
This weekend—nearly 68 years later to the day—3 Black people were shot to death in a hate crime.
Saying “Black Lives Matter” isn’t enough. We must take on institutional racism devastating communities of color.
Last week, I spoke out with @HenrySternCA & a crowd of our community against the CPUC’s proposal to increase storage at Aliso Canyon Gas Facility, the site of the largest gas leak in U.S. history. Our community has paid enough and many have lasting impacts. We can’t go backwards.
Shut it down!! Just like the communities surrounding the Santa Susana Field Lab, which must be FULLY cleaned up, Porter Ranch has suffered from a cancer cluster since the 2015-16 gas leak at Aliso Canyon. @californiapuc must shut it down as planned, not allow a storage increase.
The LA City ULP strike starts NOW.
11,000+ LA City workers are joining #StrikeSummer today and walking off the job for a 24-hour unfair labor practice (ULP) strike to demand the respect they deserve. Let's gooooooo. 🔥🔥🔥 #ULPStrike#SolidaritySummer
Municipal staff are the backbone of Los Angeles—working around the clock to ensure the smooth operation of the second biggest city in America.
I join @SEIU721 in urging officials to negotiate a fair contract that recognizes the invaluable contributions of these employees.
The members of this mosque welcomed me with such kindness and mutual respect during their candidate forum last year. I hope the grown man who committed this targeted vandalism is identified and held accountable. I stand with Simi's Muslim community.
Our #LA Director @HussamA: “We strongly call on the Simi Valley Police Department to use its resources to conduct a thorough investigation into this incident as a possible hate crime. We stand with the ISSV community and look forward to the suspect being apprehended.”
June 19, 1865, marks the day that thousands of enslaved Black Texans learned of their freedom. Since my great grandmother was born in Galveston during slavery and my grandfather shortly thereafter, this holiday is especially meaningful to me.
On Juneteenth, we celebrate how far we've come in our battle for racial justice and equality and rededicate ourselves to the fight ahead. With every protest we partake in, every election we vote in, and every bill we introduce and pass, our power moves the needle of progress forward—one step further from systems of oppression and one step closer to full liberation and healing.
Happy #PrideMonth. Pride is not just a celebration of our fellow citizens’ hard won rights, but an important and necessary answer to centuries of state and socio-cultural denial (and violent suppression) of what nature simply continues to manifest in all of its pluralisms…
At a time when private interests + reactionary forces seek to engage in scapegoating instead of providing actual answers to the failures of our systems, I’d encourage all with a heart & a brain to show up in solidarity for our fellow LGBTQ+ citizens now more than ever. Much love
A 10x increase in bike trips after installing the protected bike-lane.
1000% increase.
Never forget, when you’re being pressured to prove that safe bike-lanes are "needed," it's hard to justify a bridge by the number of people swimming across a raging river.
Here in Simi Valley, we lack rent control and have minimal affordable housing. Many wage workers must commute from far away, and very few young people can afford to stay. Please don't let the landlord lobby pressure you to ignore the needs of your constituents and CA renters.
This is great! @SenHenryStern now please vote YES on SB 466 for Costa-Hawkins reform. The bill was watered down to continue to let property owners to establish the initial rental rate with a certificate of occupancy issued within the previous 28 years (since 1995) rather than 15.
We want to give those who are M.I.S.T. access to mental health services for 180 days following discharge. It was unanimous support from my colleagues today on the floor for SB717. #mentalhealth#mist#criminaljustice

One step closer to expanding voting rights to ALL 17-year-olds in California. SCA2 just made it out of CA Senate Elections and Constitutional Amendments Committee and is on its way to CA Senate Appropriations. (1/2)
This was such a great time with a lovely group of people and a good reason to check out trails on the other side of the mountains from southeast Simi! Thank you so much to the volunteers who've made it their mission to preserve this open space and vital wildlife corridor.
Thank you to everyone who joined yesterday’s hike with our friends at Sky Valley Volunteers! We learned so much about the Santa Susana Mountains — from history, to wildlife, to the lifecycle of oak trees. We’re so lucky to have these incredible ecosystems in #AD40.
