NEW: California just secured a Presidential Emergency Declaration for the Garden Grove hazmat incident.
Working closely with local responders, the state has moved aggressively to protect residents in the impacted area.
This morning, @OCFireAuthority announced that the risk of a massive explosion has been mitigated. This new federal assistance will further bolster our resources to help resolve this situation.
VCFD along with CAL FIRE is on scene of a 1-acre brush fire along Adams Canyon Fire Road west of Santa Paula. Forward progress has been stopped thanks to an aggressive and coordinated attack from the air and ground.
Firefighters will be on scene for the next 3-4 hours mopping up hot spots and ensuring the fire is completely extinguished. There are no reported injuries to firefighters or
civilians, no structures threatened or damaged and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

#SandyFire Air Quality Update: Due to the Sandy Fire’s proximity to the Santa Susana Field Laboratory area, air quality monitoring is being conducted around the fire perimeter. Monitoring equipment has been proactively deployed to establish background air quality readings and to help assess conditions should the fire advance further into the area. At this time, the fire has not crossed into the Field Laboratory property.
Air monitoring information helps incident personnel and public health officials evaluate smoke and air conditions and provide timely updates to the community.
Residents can monitor current smoke and air quality conditions using the AirNow Fire and Smoke Map: https://t.co/isrU19nOby

Thank you @CAgovernor for working with @FEMA to support our fight against the #SandyFire. Praying for the warriors at @VCFD_PIO and all through the ranks of the unified command in their battle tonight.
California just secured a Fire Management Assistance Grant via @FEMA to bolster our response to the #SandyFire in Ventura County.
As we continue to mobilize resources to protect communities, I urge Californians in impacted areas to follow guidance from local officials.

@CohenSite Are you supporting SB 84? We have a strong bipartisan group of 25 coauthors but need all the help we can to get a hearing in Assembly Judiciary Committee https://t.co/o50g5cuaey
It’s clear we are in a climate crisis—one that demands action, not rollbacks.
That’s why my colleagues and I are urging the California Air Resources Board to strengthen Cap-and-Invest—and reject changes that would weaken it, jeopardize pollution targets, and divert billions from wildfire prevention and utility bill relief.
No delays. No rollbacks. Read the full letter: link in bio → “Press Releases.”
At the press conference this morning, the Problem Solvers Caucus raised urgent concerns about the state’s fuel supply and energy security.
In a letter to the California Energy Commission, we warn that shrinking fuel inventories, heavy reliance on imports, and global instability are putting California at risk of supply disruptions and rising prices.
We are calling for immediate transparency, overdue reports, and a clear emergency strategy—including supply flexibility, better monitoring, and coordination with the California Air Resources Board.
Bottom line: California’s current fuel trajectory is unsustainable—and action is needed now to prevent deeper economic and energy disruptions.

SB 1295: Cutting bills and Reducing Fossil Power with Small Local Battery Storage
This bill passed out of committee today and helps lower energy costs and reduce reliance on fossil fuels by expanding small, local battery storage in our communities. That means cleaner energy, a more reliable grid, and real savings for Californians.

California drivers are being held hostage by petrodictators. Now is not the time to back off our climate goals. @AirResources needs to keep us on track for 2030 and not let the oil industry leverage the war in Iran into a cap-and-invest deal that’s all carrots and no sticks.
Important report on enhancing California’s resiliency to natural catastrophes per SB 254 by the great @JoshBeckerSV just dropped. Rising utility/insurance bills compel us to take action, and I look forward to working with colleagues and stakeholders on solutions that put victims and ratepayers first. https://t.co/VQWKYeTGvN

One year later, the devastation of the LA fires remains. Today I stood with colleagues in a moment of silence to remember my home that was burned, friends that were killed, and beloved places lost forever. I know what it means to lose everything in a fire. Survivors have already endured enough, and they shouldn’t be caught in political games. The court has ruled now it’s time for President Trump to release the funds and move recovery forward.
As Chair of the Senate Emergency Management Committee, I’m proud to serve a state with a Governor who shows up for people. The $107.3 million for wildfire survivor housing is a critical step forward.
I know what it feels like to lose everything in a fire. Survivors have already endured enough, and they shouldn’t be caught in political games. Now that the court has ruled, it is time for Trump to follow through on his promise and release the billions being withheld so we can move this recovery forward.
I'm announcing a new executive order to further support homeowners, residents, and small businesses impacted by the LA wildfires.
Recovery isn't easy, but by cutting red tape and fast-tracking processes that once took months, we're delivering real, on-the-ground progress.
B-2 bomber flyover just now at the Rose Bowl aside, the President’s legal position is that the US military and local law enforcement are too weak to maintain law & order —“unable” to do their respective jobs. Thank G*d, the Supreme Court disagrees. https://t.co/E5of5nbruJ
🚨BREAKING: US District Court Judge Wise denied the motion by “LA Educators for Justice in Palestine” seeking to enjoin the enforcement of AB 715, our bill to stop rising antisemitism in K12 classrooms. The court rejected the plaintiffs’ argument that the 1st Amndt allows teachers to teach antisemitic lessons bc teachers dont speak as private citizens when they provide instruction—this is govt speech. Thanks to @CAgovernor@AGRobBonta@TonyThurmond@AJCGlobal for defending Jewish students in CA. The case isn’t over yet. But I feel a lot safer as a Jewish parent going into 2026.
