Two outstanding members of the Atascocita Fire Department were recently honored during National Trauma Survivors Day at HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood.
Paramedic Casey Pruitt and EO/Firefighter/EMT Jennifer Hannon were recognized for the lifesaving care they provided to a patient following a major motor vehicle accident. During the event, they had the opportunity to reunite with the survivor and the survivor’s family — a powerful reminder of why first responders do what they do every day.
Moments like these highlight the teamwork, compassion, professionalism, and dedication that our personnel bring to every emergency response. While our crews often meet people on the worst day of their lives, it is especially meaningful to see stories of recovery, healing, and hope come full circle.
Please join us in congratulating Casey and Jennifer on this well-deserved recognition and in celebrating the resilience of the survivor and family they helped along the way.

🚨 Big News from the 2026 Southwest EVT Conference 🚨
We are proud to announce that our very own Adam Herold has been named the 2025 Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) of the Year by the Texas Association of Emergency Vehicle Technicians (TAEVT).
This is the highest honor awarded to an active EVT—recognizing excellence in technical skill, leadership, and service to the emergency response community.
To put this into perspective:
•Over 8,700 certified EVTs nationwide
•815 in Texas
•Only 74 Master EVTs in the state
Our department is fortunate to have two Master EVTs on our team—an extremely rare distinction—and Adam’s recognition reflects the elite standard they bring to our fleet operations every day.
Adam’s impact goes far beyond our shop: 🔧 Holds four Master-level certifications (Fire, Ambulance, and two ASE tracks) 📋 Serves on the National EVT Validation Committee 🚒 Supports departments across the region and helps advance safety standards throughout the fire service
Because of professionals like Adam, our apparatus are safe, reliable, and ready when our community needs us most.
👏 Please join us in congratulating Adam on this incredible achievement!

VOLUME ⬆️:
Having our own fleet operations center adds value to ESD No. 46 / The Atascocita Fire Department by minimizing the out of service time that our emergency vehicles require due to regular preventative services or unexpected repairs. We have Master level Emergency Vehicle Technicians (EVT) ensuring that our fleet is well maintained and ready to respond at a moments notice. One of our Master Technicians, Adam Herold, was just recognized as the 2025 EVT of the Year by the Texas Association of Emergency Vehicle Technicians (TAEVT).

AFD responded this morning to a residence on Woodmancote Dr. regarding an odor coming from the ac/heating system. No hazards were found.
Around this time of year, when resident are turning on their heat for the first time, an initial unusual odor is not uncommon and usually fades away quickly. It is considered to be a good practice to have your AC/heating system inspected annually by a licensed contractor. Additionally we recommend working smoke and carbon monoxide detectors. Lastly if you’re concerned that a hazardous condition exists, don’t hesitate to call 911.
Your unwavering dedication serves as a reminder that heroes walk among us, quietly and diligently working to ensure our safety and well-being. With immense gratitude, we honor you, our brave first responders, for your depth of courage, boundless compassion, and selfless commitment to serve. #NationalFirstRespondersDay
