@dagecky@ejmichele Why would I use a third party app when I can just send the money from my bank app? And why would I use American apps when e-transfer is Canadian owned?
@Rudedude55@Autumblues@TheChaosWeeber A city where basically everything you need to live your life (grocery, school/work, doctor, etc) is with in ~15 minute walk from your house.
@Afkhansi@JefferyPetts Yeah, maple leaf as a national flag. I would make the red ensign be the flag of the government. Like how Austria has a national and a government flag
@LukeMontalbano If I am remembering my grade 10 history class in Ontario correctly, there was a unit about the founding. It’s just the the curriculum prefers to go over the nation building of the rail road and a major unit(s) on WW1, the Great Depression, and WW2.
@RadioMcLean@mdhillon21@theepicmap Correction, amending select parts of the constitution like the monarchy and the senate is functionally impossible. While amending other parts is very easy, like the removed clause about the Feds needing to run a ferry to PEI. Which was removed once the bridge opened.
@CoopTory@TNorrisBC You are forgetting that basically every treaty with the indigenous peoples has been signed by the crown on behalf of Canada, not directly by Canada.
@issy_2509@zunxra Using the Algonquins of Ontario land claim agreement (wip) as an example, private property doesn’t become indigenous unless they buy it. The only lands that trade hands is crown land, in the Algonquin instance mostly provincial crown land. With compensation for private land taken
@hughcullit18358@ThomasWatsonCD It really is interesting how once some politicians are out of the spotlight like O’tool and Kenny, they seem to become more down to earth and easier to understand. I don’t agree with everything they say, but some of their post seem more sensible now to me.
@Martyupnorth_2 @RodAVanier The federal government approves and regulates things like drugs, vaccines, and health equipment. While also monitoring diseases. The provinces are in charge of actual running the health system is self and allocating the money for it, including the federal health money they get.
@GeoffRuss3 I mean, the English translation that was used for the 1980 “National Anthem Act” was the Weir version. In his original 1908 version of the song it was “True patriot love thou dost in us command” and then he changed it in 1913 to the son’s versions, for unknown reasons.
