Does lifting weights stunt kids’ growth? No.
Let’s settle this once and for all: Strength training with weights does not harm kids’ growth plates. It does not stunt height. It does not lower bone mineral density.
In fact, it does the opposite.
Strength training enhances bone formation and bone mineral density in kids. The improvement in bone quality seen during the teenage years has lasting benefits, helping to protect against bone issues later in life.
In short, strength training—and active play, especially activities that involve jumping and landing—helps kids develop stronger, healthier bodies now and in the future.
Yes, it’s important not to overdo it. Yes, training should be done under proper coaching to ensure correct form. But when done correctly, strength training is great for kids.

You don’t really need a sprint coach, but you really need to run timed sprints.
If you have a speed coach and they’re not timing they’re just working on making your running prettier.
There’s pretty and there’s fast.
Fast is not always pretty.
Pretty is not always fast.
Injury prevention, injury reduction? It’s semantics.
But, no one will ever convince me that a good strength and conditioning program doesn’t reduce/ prevent injuries.
You won’t prevent them all but, the numbers will decrease if you do it right.

Middle school S&C is the single most impactful part of their journey
If you nail technique, coordination, and an understanding/appreciation of the training process then
The rest falls into place over the next 5+ years
It’s that powerful
*IF* you do it right
Female athletics are the most impacted by strength training because most schools still aren’t doing it.
If you’re looking at building a successful female athletic program, start with the strength coach.
Strength Training is the biggest advantage all programs should utilize🙌🏻💪🏻
Do you really want to help your teams conditioning? Do 3-4 short sprints early in practice( ideally timed). For hockey go goal to blue, basketball, end line to half court. Raise the ceiling, not the floor. Trust me,you’ll get plenty of low intensity in practice. @pntrack
