@DavQuinn This is a silly equivalence. In a world where Maria Steen was elected Uachtarán the country would’ve been in a far different place politically and therefore would’ve had a mandate for it. It’s a statement that obviously true but with an obvious explanation.

@eoinneylon I don’t know where I stand on the issue but you act like the majority of countries don’t run huge deficits. We are a rare country that runs a surplus. Countries can afford deficits in crisis if we course correct when the crisis abates and given how rich we are we’d be fine.
