BREAKING: The Trump administration made a deal with the Houthis — reportedly promising not to strike Houthi-held territory or support Saudi-backed forces, in exchange for keeping the Bab el-Mandeb open to shipping, per Reuters.

It came just days after Donald Trump rejected the Saudi Crown Prince's request for U.S. strikes on the Houthis. Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman called Trump twice asking for American firepower. Trump refused both times.

The meeting was held at the U.S. Embassy in Muscat. The Houthi delegation included senior official Mohammad Abdulsalam, who is under U.S. sanctions. The Houthis told U.S. officials they had no intention of attacking American vessels and were committed to the 2025 ceasefire — except those belonging to Saudi Arabia.

The meeting also came just days after the Houthis captured Yemen's entire Red Sea coastline and Perim Island in the Bab el-Mandeb, routing Saudi-backed forces.

BREAKING: Diesel in Germany has reached €2.80 a liter, about $12 a gallon, with truck diesel at the same price. The nationwide average is €2.42, about $10.55 a gallon, and still climbing by the hour.

Germany runs on diesel, from freight and farming to some 14 million diesel cars, and Europe imported much of its diesel from Gulf refineries that shipped through Hormuz. The port of Yanbu, Saudi Arabia's main Red Sea export hub to Europe, suspended all loadings yesterday, and Europe's Saudi crude cargoes were cancelled the same day. The US diesel crack hit an all-time high yesterday.

Please read the following post by AJ Signal about Toyota Hi-Lux pickups as "technical vehicles" in modern warfare, currently today in Yemen. Note the bench seat on the sides, with outside foot rests. This allows 6 to 8 fighters to be transported without taking up space in the bed. They can also dismount rapidly to disperse when under attack, or when attacking as dismounted infantry. The truck bed can saved for main gun ammo and extra fuel.

The other day there were photos going around of 100s of Yemeni technicals bunched up, and a lot of folks were saying A-10s could wipe them out. They could, if A-10s were able to sneak up on them undetected at that time and place. But this is unlikely, due to the tyranny of distance. Our A-10s and attack helicopters are far out of range, and any attempt to build a Forward Operating Base to support them would be struck with Yemeni missiles and drones. (This is what's happening to Saudi Forces in Yemen.)

If, somehow, A-10s or attack helos were coming in range of the large formation of technicals, the Yemenis would be warned by radio and cell phone and would disperse in minutes.

Then the A-10s or attack helos would be chasing down individual pickup trucks, spread widely apart, with each one firing a 12.7 or 20mm heavy machine gun at them from many directions. Possible Yemeni or Iranian MANPADS can also make the air attack a risky proposition. The mounted troops would jump off, disperse, and take cover while the air threat was present.

IOW, it would not be an easy or cost effective day for the A-10s or helos, and some aircraft and crew losses would be expected. Just to shoot up some cheap and easily replaced pickups. Plus, the 30mm rounds for an A-10's main gun cost $135 each. So 100 rounds = 13,500. More than a pickup and heavy machine gun.

Point being, this is not 1991 "Desert Storm," or 2008 "Operation Iraqi Freedom," where we could set up FOBs anywhere we wanted, and rule the skies unchallenged. Now, even our main air bases have been pushed far back from their former Persian Gulf state bases to Jordan, where they are still hit with Iranian missiles.
