I’m sharing the attached article because it addresses an issue that is being carefully avoided. Andy Burnham’s direct involvement in the failures the national grooming gang inquiry is meant to examine.

Burnham is not a neutral commentator calling for calm. He commissioned and defended the Oldham Assurance Review, a process that cleared political figures, excluded Pakistani rape gang survivors, and was later used to block further scrutiny.

Burnham’s record explains why he is now so keen to shut down criticism before the inquiry even begins.

The would be King of the North may want to become Prime Minister, but if we have our way, he is more likely to be in prison than back in parliament.
