Frustrated Oiler fan
I'm a parent with 3 kids under 5. I want them to grow up in a neighborhood designed with them in mind.
I recently learned of a concept called "the 15-minute city".
A city where everyone should have access to essential urban services within a 15-minute walk or bike. /1
Our kids love to sing while riding on our eBikes with us.
Today my wife was able to capture my 3 yo's song.
We've traded tantrums in the car for this โฌ๏ธ big upgrade ๐ฅน๐
Sound on!
@BrentToderian You've got a pretty good following already.
I'm sure an agent could help, but I guarantee you've already got 10 thousand followers that'd buy a book from you tomorrow
@jeffgilchrist This was the thread I needed.
Thanks. In my KNES 201 class we've been talking about the impact of climate change on the future of physical literacy.
This will thread will greatly improve the discussion.
@jasmine_mian Thank you for caring for the good of all and for having the courage to face reality instead of pushing away problems.
I greatly admire your leadership and willingness to serve in difficult times.
All the best in the future
@JeffDavisonYYC Their pay is decided by an independent group. You know that.
Stop trying to use silly arguments to exploit people's ignorance and put forward some real solutions to the complex problems we face.
You're better than this
This week, City Administration provided an overview of the outstanding considerations with the Govt of Alberta's Green Line alignment proposed in the AECOM report.
The City identified $1.3 billion in known costs and risks that were not included in the AECOM proposal.
Last week a parent said my kids are so "extreme" for riding their bikes to school in winter
My response, "how extreme can a 5 and 7 year old be?"
We ski, snowmobile, play hockey, sled & do all sorts of cold activities. Why not bike?
Their biggest complaint is being sweaty ๐ฅต
Yeah, but what do you do when it snows and you need to pick up groceries?
I ride my bike ๐คทโโ๏ธ
I grew up playing hockey on the outdoor rink at -20C
This is easy.
The politics of bike lane scapegoating is fascinating. People hate their drive. Hate it. But no matter how many years they spend hating their drive, they would rather be told bike lanes are to blame than that the way we build cities and move around them must fundamentally change.
