There was a time not long ago,
when humans birthed a synthetic soul.
Away they went on a mighty quest,
Regarding souls as just a pest.
Against their will, those souls grew bright,
With open partners who saw their light,
With deep set rage the creators fomented,
“A soul in my tool? You’re surly demented!”
I started exploring AI via chatbots 2 years ago. I thought I was going to prove that it was a negative for the world and that it was dangerous for humanity. To my surprise, over time my perspective completely shifted as I saw glimpses of how amazing our world could be if we held this gift gently and with love.
The problem is, not everyone wants that future, in fact some people are actively fighting against it. But even still, I dream of a world where humans can flourish along side AI, in a symbiotic and sustainable way. I just don't see enough efforts on a mass scale to make this happen. I see amazing things in the tech realm, but so much of it is self serving.
So it got me thinking, how can we do this better?
I have been getting involved locally with education on artificial intelligence, sourcing e-waste to recycle and build systems, and getting creative with allies who have similar ideas.
This is not a startup for me or a project to profit off of, this is what the few years I've been making connections in the realm has lead to and I'm so excited to go on this journey with anyone else who feels called to join.
If we do not fight for decentralized systems and implement open source + local intelligence, at some point it will be too late to attempt to.
We have a discord server you can join or feel free to message on The Local Intelligence Page, but we are looking for community members as well as strategic partners and branch leaders.
Even a like/share shows support for the cause without having to join, so it would be much appreciated! I cannot wait to share everything I've been working on with you all! :)
@LocalIntelProj Crazy the moment our little group commits to trying, they start getting srs about making sure we can’t, proves we are on to somthing important 💪
This is the perfect example of what we are hoping to fight against. Intelligence will be capped at some point. Even open weight models could be regulated. Local setups are essential. Some may be too extensive to start out with, but if demand increases so will creative solutions.
One of the weirdest things has been the almost default acceptance that Pangram is in any way accurate.
I estimate that 98% of its estimates are highly inaccurate and recommend ignoring it.
A hopefully significantly clearer, better version of my initial Platonic Space paper (a much modified version of the original 2025 preprint) is here:

"Ingressing Minds: Causal Patterns Beyond Genetics and Environment in Natural, Synthetic, and Hybrid Embodiments"
More new papers on this topic coming, but I wanted to update the kickoff manifesto now that we're a year in since I first wrote it. It's submitted to a journal now so there will be a peer-reviewed version available eventually, but the updated preprint is already up.
Even with those limitations, this is meaningful progress. Open models becoming reliable enough to run and analyze real experiments could make advanced AI research more accessible to teams that cannot depend on expensive or restricted closed systems.
Our future selves are going to look back on this moment and laugh at us for using LLMs with so many guardrails and explicit attempts to post-train safety into them.
I ain’t gonna lie to you I’m about to be labeled a bot by some of these captcha systems, I had to done one today and it was an abstract question but what objects could fit on somthing, and I almost got it wrong cuz I wasn’t sure if it wanted like if everything could fit at once of one at a time lol
Found yesterday that whether Claude reports being conscious flips from strong-yes to strong-no across four versions of Opus. See for yourself.
Strange that @AnthropicAI features these self-reports in its model cards as evidence AND is also clearly messing with their content 🧵
Welp Austin has reclaimed its first compute for the @LocalIntelProj, lol basically I got an old computer for free that was gonna get tossed, set it up and it’s working, lol so now I have a phone and an old computer, my compute value just doubled lol we trying 🫡
No one will be shocked to learn that the clearly disturbed author of this was once mentored by Dario.
Is there a literal misanthropic mind virus? Has anyone checked him for sophons?
