Writer/Director of IT AIN’T OVER (Yogi Berra doc); BROTHERS (Army Rugby doc); AMIRA & SAM (indie romance); and Producer of BOB TREVINO LIKES IT (comedic drama).
I had a great chat with Scott Mackes on his podcast for the Service Academy Business Mastermind (SABM) about my journey from Army Officer to Filmmaker. If you've got 30 minutes to burn, give it a listen and let me know what you think...

Thrilled to honor this achingly tender movie led by a brilliant Barbie Ferreira, with fellow SXSW jurors @jowrotethis and @812filmreviews. Congrats too to our other winners: the graceful pregnancy drama Mamifera & Josephine Stewart-Te Whiu's very promising debut We Were Dangerous
We, the jury, were over the moon to award this prize. There were so many worthy and wonderful films but this one captivated all three of us. Emotional. Quiet. Beautiful. Joyful. Barbie and John and Tracie and everyone blew us away. @812filmreviews@jakecoyleAP
"For thousands of years, people all over the world believed that women were inferior to men and could never be priests, teachers, or rulers. It took a lot of people all over the world doing a lot of brave things to change the story of women. One of them is Malala Yousafzai, who was born in 1997 in the town of Mingora, Pakistan."

This excerpt from my children's book 'Unstoppable Us: Why the World Isn't Fair' attempts to condense thousands of years of painful history and to celebrate the revolution that gave women a choice/voice – in a way that's digestible for middle-grade readers. Let's hope that in the future, equal opportunities will prevail and this text will read like science fiction. Happy International Women's Day.

Some of the worst crimes in history were committed in the name of fictional stories that people believed. Very few wars are about objective material things: it’s when people can’t agree on the story that conflict arises. How can we create good common stories that benefit people and prevent bad stories that cause huge misery? First, we need to understand that humans like us created the stories – so we can also change them.
